Hi There and Welcome to Fixya.

I see that you're having issues on printing out texts - Here's what I recommend for you to try :

  • Open "Notepad"
  • Type something then try to print
If the results are the same (no text/nothing), then there's a need for you to uninstall and reinstall the printer driver :

Step 1 - Remove printer driver. Clicking on the link below will display the comprehensive steps and precautions on how to properly uninstall the printer driver.

Uninstall Printer Driver

Step 2 - Reinstall the updated driver. The link below will then take you to to Canon's support page to download and reinstall the updated printer driver :

Download and Install updated driver

Please ensure to complete these steps properly - Canon's support page is very well detailed and you can't miss anything if you follow the procedure one at a time.

I hope this helps, Thanks for using Fixya.

Welcome to Fixya

Try to reset the printing preferences. Please see procedure below:

1. From the [Start] menu, select [Control Panel], and then click [Printers and Other Hardware] > [Printers and Faxes]. 2. Right-click the icon for this printer, then select [Printing Preferences] from the pop-up menu. 3. Specify the default value for printing preferences in the [Page Setup], [Finishing], [Paper Source], and [Quality] sheets. 4. Confirm the settings, then click [OK]. The [Printers and Faxes] folder or the [Printers] folder reappears. The default values for printing preferences are now changed. Thank you for using Fixya!

CANON IP 4300 PRINTERS WILL ONLY PRINT ALTERNATE LINES

I think your text document didn't fit the page. I have done that before. It overruns and the extra becomes the lines inbetween. To fix this use microsoft publisher to print it so that you can choose the paper size and the borders and fit the document within the space allowed.

The document should be formatted as a table with text inserted rather that a group of text boxes.

I have a Canon pixma mp990 Recently it has stopped printing with the larger black ink cartridge that is meant for printing text (PGI-220BK) All the other cartridges print fine I was using a non-canon...

It looks to me that your non Canon cartridge has blocked the print head. I see this all the time. Remember the compatables are not pigment based but just watered down ink so you can get it to flow through a syringe into the cartridge. This however is the classic outcome of trying to save a few pennies on an expensive bit of kit!

How do I direct my Canon ip4300 Printer to no longer print from the normal black 5BGBK cartridge (empty) but to print from the 8BK (full)

You can't because CLI-8Bk ink cartridge is use only for photo printing. For text, document or gray scale printing the printer use PGI-5Bk.You need to replace your empty PGI-5Bk.

Printing on photo

Hi

Please scan the document in JPEG format and then take the printout, as TIFF format is suitable for text files and not images. After scanning, check whether the file is in JPEG format or not. If not then you can convert it into JPEG format by using MS Office picture manager or simply MS Paint.

Please do accept the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Document printing blurred

You may have some custom print settings active. Go to the print properties and set the printer to default print settings. You may try downloading and installing the newest print drivers too. http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=SupportDetailAct&fcategoryid=257&modelid=10236 here is the canon site for your machine. Let me know what happens Good Luck, Tim
