You can open the turntable unscrewing the screws which are on the bottom side.
Before you turn it upside down, remember to remove the disc plate.
You may also need to remove the rubber legs to get to all the screws.
If interested I have the service manual.

Good luck!

    AAAwww... this was REALY easy....
First i did what you told, and took some bolds of of the bottom.. didnt help.

Than i searched at te top, and was able to LIFT the rotating disk..
it was a bit stuck, and i didnt want to pull to hard.. :( but a little nock on the shaft and it came opf REALY easy.
Unscrewed 5 bolts from the plastic cover and THERE it was, my little problem.
A tiny rubber belt was completely gone, and i replaced it with a cheapo.. elastic used for all kinds of things... put all back and... YESSS.. worked.. now i can check all my " vintage" records...

    TNX alot from me..

    regards,

    Dutch guy.

What do i do with the earth cable on my technics to stop the humming?

If you are connecting it directly to a HiFi amplifier, connect the ground lead of the technics to the ground termination on the back of the amplifier.
If you are connecting to a Dj Mixer, connect the Technics ground lead to the ground on the back of the Dj Mixer.
Make sure the ground is connected securely and will not fall off. To check this, after connection give a light pull on the ground cable. If the lead comes away, reterminate (connect).

Technics SL-1700 Mk2, tonearm doesn't lower, cueing doesn't work

There's a rubber belt or O ring that broke. I couldn't find one at Technics, so I took the old parts to the hardware store and found an O ring in plumbing parts that was very close. Been working for years just fine!

Where is the ground wire connected to on the Technics SL-BD27?

You will more than likely need to wire it up from the inside of the unit, unfortunately. Parts for this model are discontinued. You can also try an iPod cable. As the size is a 1/8" plug - same as an iPod cable, then just cut the other end, and ground to your receiver.
