Have a 2000 V 70 and the a/c doesn't get cold. I put in a can of freon and it helped a little bit until the weather got hot again. Bought another can of freon, but it wouldn't go in. A red light...

Without gauges you can refill the unit by running the engine at about 3000 rpm. Turn AC on full speed. Then open the freon can a tad to get rid of any air in the line and connect it to the suction port. Open can full blast, shake it while upright and continue filling until the intake line going to compressor starts getting cold and sweats. Then stop. Air coming out of vents should be around 41 degrees.
Cabin filter if clogged will only impede air flow - not how cold it is. Actually, id the flow is impeded the air coming out will be colder since less is passing over the evaporator. But that could under certain conditions lead to the evaporator freezing up (then use outside air option instead of recirculated) to deal with situation. There- you are now an EXPERT!

I have a ten year old carrier heat pump unit. I recently replaced the indoor tstat. the outside contact and the transformer. Had a tech put freon in the unit also. I have to problems one is the airflow is...

Two things are the most likely culprit. First check ytour inside coil with the unit running for 10 minutes or more and see if the coil is sweating there should be water running off of it. Also after one hour is there ice forming on it. These problems are lack of air flow which is caused by restricted air flow caused by a dirty filter dirty coil (which you have already taken care of) or your blower motor may not be kicking into high speed. Your motor will start and then after it gets to a certain speed it switches to a high speed. After running only 15 minutes if your blower motor is hot to the touch. Be careful some will cook an egg. If it is hot not just warm it is bad and needs to be replaced. Also if the fan is not running properly you can not get reliable readings with your gauges when adding freon. So if this is the problem then you may have to have the units freon cked again. If the line is not sweating at the outside unit where it goes into the unit the freon pressure is not right. The larger copper line will be cold and sweating the small line will be hot to the touch when the system is balanced and running properly. I hope this helps

Pressure readings

the metering device is in the outside unit on mini splits that is why the liquid line sweats. pressure reading depend on load high load high readings i would shoot for arount a 40f suction saturation temp

Rudd 2.5 combo ac/heat unit

This could be due to a freon leak or the condenser unit needs cleaning also the evaporator in the attic should also be cleaned and inspected. If cold sweat is not seen outside on the large line going into the outside unit I believe you may have a freon leak. Sea Breeze

= 07 ford five hundred ac problems

First off,is the ac compressor turning? If so are the large line, near where you put freon in,cold? If the low side lines(large lines)are cold and sweating, and the evaporator box is dripping water on the ground, then the ac is most likely fine. There is a temp door in the ac blower box, that moves for hot,or cold when you select these comfort levels. This door is most likely controlled by a actuator motor. This motor is most likely bad.If it is control by vacuum, look for a broken vacuum hose,or one that has come loose under hood.

Not cooling

1st thing to check after you have turned on the unit for say 45 minutes is the larger line coming out of the house to the outside condensing unit. If that line is not sweating on a 40% or higher humid day, your unit is not fully charged with refrigerant, keep in mind also that your outside unit must be able to move air through the coil. If the coil is dirty, turn off the outside electrical box, and wash it down with your water hose till it sparkles, then wait until it drys, turn on the power, and check the large copper line, this line must sweat, if not, the unit is low on refrigerant, and must be charged by a serviceman

Not blowing cold air

Your in house core could have frozen over. check the core inside the indoor blower unit. it may have frozen over. this will interrupt the cold air function.

My central air never kicks off

Sounds like you need to recharge it .. To tell while the unit is running go outsiode and feel the large insulated copper line going to the unit it should be cold to point od sweating like a can of coke you take out of the refrigerator and sit on the counter. also feel the air coming out of the unit outside it should be warmer than the outside air if not your freon is low

Cooling problems

Check the filters inside and the evap coil to make sure it isnt filthy. The evap coil can be cleaned with a credit card if its wet. The large line outside should sweat all the way to the compressor if its got enough freon. Will freeze when its cool outside or not sweat at all if its low. Good luck with it.

Unit keeps stopping when hot weather

Hi, I am not familiar with your particular unit but it sounds like the compressor is getting too hot which could be caused by being low on freon. The large refrigerant line should be cold and sweat all the way up to the compressor after it has been running for a while. If it does, the freon is ok. It could also be a dirty condenser coil, bad bearings in outside fan motor or bad capacitor on fan motor or compressor. Check for wires that are burned or have been getting too hot. There are other things with heat pumps that could cause it but they are unlikely to happen. You might also want to make sure the voltage and hz is right. The only thing I could find information on was the 110/220 60hz (60C) You may only have 50hz power there. Good Luck. Let me know if I have helped. kstfas
