Question about Kitchen Ranges
From the description about the lights which does have a slight affect on their sensitivity suggests the sensor adjustment. The sensors that detects obstructions appear to be out of adjustment.
Check the alignment for proper operation. It may be dust that is obstruction the sensor.

Best bet on this one is to replace the lock assembly. Although you could make a minor adjustment that may help. what you would do is with the door open put latch in lock position and then slightly bend latch to the left, making sure not to twist it. This works about 80% of the time.

Hi, W/D here.
Check the eyes, located at ankle height on either side of the door and compare them to the other door.
Sometimes, they are being occluded, where the light cannot be received by the receptor. If this is the case, move whatever is in the way.
The lenses can get too dusty to be effective. You can wipe them with a soft cloth.
The wires that are connecting the light and receptor to the control can touch. For whatever reason, they are usually just twisted together, and not insulated. The fix is to separate them.
They can be bumped out of alignment, where the receptor side isn't "seeing" the light from the source. They can be checked and realigned with a string line, or just by aiming them by hand to check for any difference in the lights before making any permanent fixes.
Lastly, they can just wear out, and have to be replaced. The set can be purchased from Lowe's, etc. as a generic replacement, from Sears or on-line.
Hope that this helped, --W/D--
