Check if the cables are connected, and the printer is powered on. There are usually 2 cables, 1 is connected to the computer's usb port, the other is for power. Make sure both are connected and inserted firmly into their respected ports. If all are connected, check if the printer driver is installed properly. Look for your printer in Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Printers and Faxes (if you are using windows xp). If you can see your printer there, there is a chance that you have a defective printer which needs servicing.

My canon i9900 is offline

It usually means that the printer is off, not connected to your computer or your computer does not recognize it. If your computer doesn't recognize your printer, go to control panel and click on add new hardware, then follow the directions . After trying all the above try using your printer once again.

Good luck!

Printer is offline and i can't get it online

Ok one printer prints and the other one just stares back at you.
Take the one that prints and pull the network cable from it.
Now try printing to the other one.
I don't think that two devices with the same IP address work.

Trying to print 'offline'. Computer recognises it is offline but will not print. Error message says 'Printer is offline' which is as it should be. Printer is HP photosmart C4580.

So, if you want to print, the printer must be online. Offline method doesn't work to print. When the computer sayst that the printer is offline, it means ypur printer is turned off or you don't connected the printer to PC.
As in conclusion, if you want to print set the printer online.
