Question about D-Link DWA-552 (ASKU56185) Wireless Adapter

1 Answer

My desktop running on XP OS and using a D-Link DWA 552 xrteme adaptor was working properly until a few days ago and now the message "D-Link DWA 552 Not Connected" error message shows when clicking on the icon on the start menu. I cannot connect to the Internet and my WiFi Epson printer will not print. No changes/updates have been done (unless automatically !). Tried to uninstall and re-install the adaptor without solving the problem.

Please follow the following steps and revert back if your isssue is not resolves.

Go to 'Start'--->Programs--->Accessories--->System Tools--->System Restore

Here you will have to check "Restore computer to an earlier time' and click Next
Now you will find one Month Calendar window with Dates below, go to the previous month by clicking the '<' sign in the upper left hand corner of the Month Calendar and select any date that you see in Bold.

The detail of that particular date should show "System Checkpoint" and time on the right hand side box. Select that date.

Now, Click on Next and System Restore will start and windows will take a reboot.

After reboot your problem should be resolved. If not then give a feedback.

Wireless internet limited connectivity

The first thing to do is reset the router. There is a button on the router that you press with a paper clip. You will then have to access the router with your browser and a cat5 cable connection to change all the settings that you might need to change for security. DHCP should be enabled and there should not be an issue with the number of concurrent connections.

Computer doesn"t start keep rebooting

Try moving the card to a different slot.
Swap slots with another card if all the slots are full.
If this doesn't work, post a reply / add a comment to this post and I'll dig deeper for more options, but in most cases like this, using a different slot or swapping slots with another card will most often fix the issue.

If disabling and enabling the adapter fixes the problem(temporarily)  then you know the problem is either with the adapter or the drivers, try going to the D-Link website and downloading the newest drivers for that adapter, if that doesn't work contact D-Link for support.

DWA-643 installed but unable to access any wireless point

check the status of the device under Device Manager first and see if it was properly installed. If yes, you may use the wireless zero configuration utility built-in to XP or Vista. If your OS is lower than XP you have the use the utility provided by D-link. It usually comes with a CD installer for its driver and utility.

Please rate and see if it helps. Thanks and goodluck.
