Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Our front loader Blanco washing machine gets to the rinse cycle then stops. The lights will blink for a few minutes before the door will allow to be opened. The washing machine is then frozen until we reset it by holding the start/pause button for a few seconds. How can we fix it?

SOURCE: Our front loader Blanco washing

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
If it still has water in it I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Here are my complete guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
-------------------------------------

If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and most are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play!

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT!
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. If it doesn't work then the motor is malfunctioning!

Hope the filter is the problem and good luck!

We were op testing this machine when in the middle of the rinse cycle the lights for door and wash started to blink. Can anyone help? It came with a CDROM but we don't have access to view said manual.

One likely reason--the washer filter is clogged. On my LG large front loader there is a removable door on the bottom front panel of the machine. It should be cleaned once a year. I didn't know that. It was full of disgusting mucK. Just pull out the black rubber drain tube which has a plastic plug. It may drain a gallon or two of evil-smelling yak, so be prepared! clean out the filter, and it should work just fine.

I dont have a stop buttom

You're start/pause button should pause the cycle, cancell should completely cancell. After pressing the Start/Pause within a cycle, the door lock may require time to unlock as indicated by the lock light on the panel.

Whirlpool Front Loader WFS1071BW, rinse cycle problem

I had exactly the same problem with the same machine... I've seen a few people on various forums with the same problem. The problem on mine turned out to be just the EMI filter located next to the power cord inlet. I just bypassed it for now until I can get a replacement.

When my machine gets to its rinse cycle it works for about 30 seconds and then all the lights start flashing and it stops working

Hi,

You most likely have a faulty cold inlet valve. When the machine gets into the rinse cycle, it needs to fill up with cold water.

Depending on whether you have a top loader or front loader, there may be a seperate valve for the rinse water intake on a front loader.

Let me know the make and model of your machine and I can help you identify and replace the inlet valve.

Regards
Ash
