Question about Troy-Bilt Pony Garden Tiller

Open Question

Have Troy Bilt rear tine with the Honda engine. Have used it two seasons. Wife used it twice over the last year as I was out of the Country. Put a new plug in it with fresh gas, added a bit of starter fluid, and it cranked up. Went to start tilling, and when the tines start to dig in, the engines bogs down and will not run strong enough to pull forward. Any assistance would be appreciated. Dg

SOURCE: troy bilt horse pto clutch will not disengage

The problem is lack of lubrication in the pto coupling. Losen the two swing bolts carefuly, block the front under the motor. Separate the tine transmision from the housing and grease both sides with as much grease as you can work in. Work the lever as you do this. Should fix the problem.

SOURCE: How to remove rear tines to replace seals ?

The tines sometimes get frozen to the shaft. You might try penatrating oil and use a heat gun or hair dryer to heat to loosen.
Also tap wiht a hammer around shaft.

First, check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks.

If they are o.k., then you will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb. cleaner. Make sure the small screen in the carb. is free of debris. Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152), to clean the small portals in carb. If the carb. has a foat, then you can use the Den tek Brush on the jet as well. Reassemble and start.

(NOTE: If the cleaning doesn't work, then buy a carb. kit and replace all appropriate parts.)

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

New tines now gets away from me

double check to make sure you have the new tines in the right direction. also you could try to raise your machine, as the new tines are digging better it might not have to be as low as you had to go with your old ones.

if you have a B&S engine look at the frist two numbers on the code. thats the year of the engine and more likelyof your unit, As long as the motor has'nt been replaced. I'll checked on your serial number did'nt find a model. If this is an old troy built I'll have to call tech support. also I need to know what engine 4, 4.5, 6, 7, 8, hr power, and the name of the teller. MTD now owens troy built.
