If it is DSL modems, you just have to access the setup page of your device to configure it using PPPoE, DHCP or bridge mode.

If it is a cable modem, either you install the drivers for USB connection between the computer and modem or just use the Ethernet connection on the modem. You need to register the MAC Address of your modem to your ISP.

Unable to connect to home ATT 2wire with new Belkin USB wireless

AT&T 2Wire routers function as both routers and modems. You can disable the router functionality by placing the router in bridge mode. In bridge mode, the 2Wire device functions only as a modem and forwards all incoming traffic to the device behind the 2Wire router. For example, you can use a different router instead of the 2Wire's built-in router by enabling bridging mode -- the router behind the 2Wire device will get the external IP address, and the 2Wire router won't interfere.
Step 1Type "Homeportal/management" (without quotes) into your Web browser's address bar and press "Enter" to access the Management page in the 2Wire router's Web interface.
Step 2Provide your 2Wire router's custom password, if you set one. The router comes with no password set.
Step 3Click "Configure" under Broadband on the Management page.
Step 4Type a period (".") into the "Disable PVC Search" box.
Step 5Set the value of the "VPI" box to "0" and the value of the "VCI" box to "35".
Step 6Set the "Connection Type" to "Direct IP" and click "Submit."
Step 7Click the "Configure Services" link on the Management page.
Step 8Uncheck "Enable Routing" and click "Submit."

This thing doesn't work. When moving the remote unit downstairs, it doesn't connect to the network.

The powerline modems are affected by the other connected equipment in your house and the wiring phases.

For BOTH modems try the following first:

-Connect the modems directly to the wall socket, don't use an extension lead.

-If you have a surge protecting extension block plugged in in the next/adjacent socket, try plugging it in on a different mains socket.

If this does not work, you may want to think again about routing an Ethernet cable between floors.
Higher performance and lower cost.

Te first thing you should do is remove all power from the AT&T devices (modem, router, etc) for at least ten minutes. This will do several important things.
1. It will force your ISP (AT&T) to drop all connections to and from their router to the DSL modem.
2. It will force your ISP (AT&T) to re-establish the connection to the DSL modem.
3. It will force the DSL modem to clear all RAM and reload its default configuration when power is re-applied.
4. It will force the wireless router to clear all RAM and reload its configuration information when power is restored.
The 10 minutes is not arbitrary, some Motorola DSL modems supplied by AT&T have a specified 8 minute memory backup capability.

SMC7901BRA Modem + Router Cannot connect

The Linksys router can be communicated with by going to Start>Run>type 'http://192.168.1.1' and when the logon screen appears use 'linksys' for username and 'admin' for the password. There you can reset defaults, view status, configure all router functions, et al, including restore defaults. Pressing the little reset button has reset levels that vary with the amount of time it is pressed -basically discharging a capacitive charge. Remember that cable modems use DHCP whereas DSL uses PPPoE. ~Steve

It is common to have this as the default IP to connect to equipment.

I suggest you unplug your modem while you set up your router. You can also change the default IP for the router while in the settings. be sure to remember the new IP or you will have to do a factory reset to get it back to default

Linksys access point 54gc

dorn1014:
This WEP key will be the same as you had put into your router. Go into your router like 'http://192.168.x.x' (check the manual of your router it will give you the default ip numbers of your router configuration page. On that configuration page you will find the WEP key. Basically you can also change it from within that page.
Or
If you have already changed the ip address of your router make sure you put instead of the one I mentioned.
Thanks Hope that helped.
