Question about Frigidaire Over-the-Range Microwave

1 Answer

I have a Frigidaire FMV156DBA built-in over-the-counter microwave that started behaving erratically tonight. The light started blinking on and off, accompanied by a repeated beeping. I unplugged the unit and plugged it back in. Then the fan started turning on and off repeatedly, and again, the beeping. After I unplugged it and plugged it back in, the unit wouldn't work at all. I plugged it back in and the beeping started on its own a few minutes later. i unplugged it and let it sit unplugged for a few minutes, then plugged it in and it worked fine. Any idea what could have caused the problem, and do you think I should I have the unit serviced?

Yes have it serviced. Sounds like there is a loose/corroded connection inside and loose connections can cause fires. The intermittent/ramdom operation is indicative of this.

Model FMV156DBA. How do I remove from bracket on wall?

You have to push the rear of the unit up slightly to to disengage the bracket hooks from the back of the microwave. Doing all that while not dropping the microwave is the fun part.

I have a frigidaire over the counter microwave and the turntable quit working

Good Afternoon Friend, I appreciate your post!

If the turntable of your Frigidaire microwave has stop working, often the possibilities include one of three culprits:

  • Power Supply
  • Turntable Turned Off
  • Turntable Support Damaged

I always recommend resetting your microwave first before reaching out to a professional. You can do so by unplugging your appliance or flipping the circuit breaker for about ten minutes and then turn on your microwave.

Best of luck!-Z

I need to change the interior light bulb in my Frigidaire over the counter microwave. The model # is FMV156DCA.

Good Morning Evelyn, thank you for allowing me to assist you!

Here are some simple troubleshooting tips to help replace the light bulb on your Frigidaire microwave, FMV156DCA.

·First, disconnect power to your microwave. This can be done by either unplugging it or at the circuit breaker panel.
·To release cover, remove the screw on the light cover (light cover may become very hot, do not touch glass when light is on).
·Remove old light bulb and replace only with equivalent watt bulb available from parts distributor or the manufacturer directly. Bulbs are also available at most hardware stores or lighting centers. Bulbs larger than 30 watts are NOT recommended.
·Close light cover and secure with screw removed in step 2.

I hope this information proves to be helpful. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to reconnect.

What can I replace my FMV156DBA with?

You would probably have an easier time just getting a microwave that matches the dimensions of yours and use the old screw/bolt holes as markers to install the new bracket.

When we put in the cook time and press start, the clock starts but the microwave is not heating the food.

Sounds like you have a bad mag tube. If this is a counter top model, it will be cheaper to replace the unit. The mag tube will run around $120.00 and you still have a used unit. A new unit will cost you from $65.00 to $120.00. If you decide to repair, go to and enter your model number. This will bring up diagrams of your unit. Find the magnetron and this is the part you will need. You also may need the capacitor and diode. Good luck

Microwave seems to run, but won't heat.

We have a similar problem! It sounds like a problem with the microswitch inside the unit that the door is suppose to engage when closed. If not engaged properly, it will not cook. We had the switch replaced last March but it has started acting up again. We can press in on the door and/or lift it slightly and it will cook. Try putting time on the counter and hit start. It the word "cook" appears then try moving the door slightly and see if the turntable starts turning. If not, then you may have a more serious problem. Good luck!
