Question about Compaq Evo N620c Notebook

Blue Screen Horror.

When I turn my laptop on a blue screen comes up after the welcome screen.
it says: IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal
I have no idea what that means.
Then it also says: Technical Information: ***Stop: 0x000000A (0xF24FFFFC, 0x0000002, 0x0000000, 0x804DBE&B)  Beginning dump of physical memory. Physical memory dump complete.

I've tried going into safe mode & doing a system restore. That didn't work. I've tried leaving it off for a while & then coming back. Every so often it will let me log back in, but 2 seconds later. the blue screen comes up. 
I'm not really sure what to do. My warranty is up & i'm not really computer savy.

    I have the same laptop and the same problem. Re-installing the modem seemed to work for an hour, but then got the same blue screen. It almost seems heat related? Curious to know how common this is. I just bought this on Ebay, it has XP on it, not XP-Pro like it should. Also sxga screen which was nice to get if it would stop turning blue. :-(

    I have the same problem, in my case, I didn't even install the modem driver, after installing it, the problem remains..

By the way thanks for the info on the 98 Neon, Thank You you have been a big help. Now it is my time, I have lots of expertise on vehicles, I have been working on them since I was fifteen and I am 41 now so there is very little if anything that I have not done to a vehicle. But your problem with your laptop, it sounds like you might have picked up a virus somewhere and your virus program may not find it. And the only solution that you have right now is to reformat your computer. And being that you are not computer savvy then let me explain what you need to do, k. Your Operating CD. I guess that it is probably XP But you need that and stick it in the CD rom or Dvd Rom either one is fine, turn your computer off and back on again. By doing this it will cause you to boot from the CD. And then it will ask you what you want to do. And click on reformat C drive I am sure that is your drive letter I hope, but if something different then click o.k. anyway. Then it will ask you do you want to erase the old version of windows and you need to click L and that will erase your old version. If you have anything that you need to save, please burn it to cd before you get started, k. And then you are on your way to reformatting a couple of nag screens willl come up and ask you questions but they are all easy and something that you can answer, k. Like it will ask you your name the name of your computer, time zone and maybe one other thing, can't remember. But It will give you a time in the bottom left hand corner letting you know just how much time is left on reformatting your computer, but don't trust this number it decreases very quickly once you get started. And then when you are done, take the cd out and your computer will restart itself. And then all you have to do is the pain in the *** part and that is install all of your programs over again. I keep all of mine on a seperate partion on my hard drive so I always have all of them that I put on my computer. That makes it very simple for me because then all I have to do is install each and every one, which is very time consuming by the way. But this is your only choice you are not going to fix your problem any other way besides reformatting your computer, trust me I have been doing it long enough, I know. No program or any other fix is going to work. They will all fail. And then you are left with doing as I have said, LOL. Turned out to be a problem with a windows update conflicting with the wifi card that's built into the lid. You need to remove all the drivers for it and downgrade to an earlier driver from the compaq support site.

    No need to reformat the drive, the problem was completely fixed by downgrading to an earlier driver for the built in wireless card.

Best solution is to go into safe mode by pressing F8 when you turn on the computer, then right click my computer and click properties and go to device manager and uninstall the modem drivers then restart the computer. This is caused because the IRQ for the modem is in used by another device.

U are getting error from your hard disk or from os.Try reloading os after a complete format.better to repartition the harddisk drive.After this process if u will get the same error message u may require to check your hard disk.It may require to replace also.

Try removing all the appendages (USB drives, external hardware, etc. ) and restart the computer. Select the last best configuration.

Uninstall adaware


Start your PC and press F8 several times until the boot menu comes up. Then select "Safe Mode with Networking". Now get some or ALL of the FREE programs below.

I got a blue screen problem with my satellite M55 S135. i am installing a new OS XP and it did not finish its installation. Instead i got page fault in non paged area as well as driver irql not less or...

- maybe your cd windows installer have a error files ( try with another ones, if you have )
- maybe your dvd rom have a
weak optical ( try with another one )
- Try to all format paritition your hard drive, the parititon must be refresh after you had paritition formatted hard drive

Hi,

The Blue Screen Error IRQ Driver not less or equal is a memory problem. Basic things you can do is reseat the memory. However, I highly suggest to contact Dell and have them guide you in doing a Memory Diagnostics. They should replace it if its faulty.

I have a compaq nc6400 gives me blue screen of pfn lis corrupt and irql not less or equal i look up irql not less or equal and it's telling me that it's overheating and that maybe the ram is bad. help me,...


usually blue screen errors are related with the ram memory issues or ...corrupt (bad status) Hdd, but in your case probably one of the coolers doesnt work and it is overheating and forced to shut down suddenly ..,solution is to verify the ram memory ...and check the bios for any temperature limitations...and best is to restore the optimal defaults settings ...( factory defaults ) ...and also try to reinstall the operating system cause it might just have so issues ....also ...try to remove and replace the ram unit in its slot ..to be sure that its all ok ...
there is whatever the possibility that overheating damaged the ram memory already ,.and in this case it should be replaced... but this case its rare ...and ram memory if its not touched by hand ...usually has a life time exploitation period...
so ....either unlimited the maximum cpu temp allowed ..from bios...or find a way to install extra cooler fan...and reinstall for to be sure its all Ok...

Blue screen of death


if your computer is getting this blue screen of death,then try getting in safe mode with networking of the computer& if you are able to go there you can uninstall & reinstall the video driver from that safe mode page because you will be able to work on that page...

HP zt1170 freezing, blue-screen, IRQL errors, etc


First of all, I recommend you to try using the Notebook with the RAM you had purchased...and remove the preinstalled ones.

Try using the 512 MB of RAM you had purchased by inserting it into the other slot if you receive Bluescreens with the RAM installed in one slot.

If you receive the same Bluescreen errors again and again, the issue can be with a damaged Hard Drive which might be having some bad sectors.

Additionally, IRQL not less or equal error message you receive indicates that few of the Device Drivers you had installed are incompatible.

Check them if you are downloading and installing the required drivers from any third party website other than from HP.
