THANKS the wires came out of identical computer bought on ebay cant find a manual. this card is built inside the computer and cant be tested untill computer is back together. so its a one shot deal. it either works or I will have to take computer apart again and what a job that is. I cant imaging anyone taking this computer apart just to take out the antenna wires and the wlan. computer works flawlessly. I see a couple of little clips under the hd fan which could be the answer but both wires would be close together. there is not a plus or minus on the wires and shouldnt matter which one goes where. but I am not familiar with this system. thanks so much for your help wish me luck.

Look for the service manual for your laptop. It should show the routing of the cables. The antenna wires may have been disconnected for a screen replacement. Typ ant wires are black and white and should go back to the WLAN board in the correct location. If they don'r reach it may be incorrect routing or just the wrong cables. Try switching the main and secondary antenna cables if not sure which is which....... should not hurt anything if backwards, just poor range.

Depending on what is on the other end of the cable, I would simply tuck it under the cover, not actually attached to anything, and test your wireless strength. If the end has some sort of connector just keep it away from any metal, or run it to a metal chassis point, like under the HDD, although being so close to the HDD might mess the signal up. Not sure.
Hope this helps somehow!!!

Run it to a coat hanger!!!!!!!! just for kicks. then take your laptop with a coat-hanger wireless system to the fanciest cafe in town. Along with a Motorolla Bag Phone that is!!!!

I thought of that but I fixed the problem I had an old set of wires with no ends on them so I just pulled my screen apart and taped the wires under the screen poped in a wlan card put it all back together and wahla we have wireless internet. not bad for a rooky. thats the first time I ever had a laptop apart and my last. what a nightmare I got to hand it to you laptop repair men. better you than me. lol thanks so much for all the advice. my laptop career is over. I fixed 10 laptops this week and only had to take one apart. lucky I guess now I quit.

My laptop which is hp 620 wireless connection switches on and off

I would have posted this in a Clarification, or Comment, but only have Post Solution option available at the moment. (SNAFU apparently in FixYa at the moment)

From your statements, it leads me to believe Electrolytic Capacitors; are failing in your wireless router. If it is an AT& T model, this carries relevancy. They have 'caps' that go bad.

Or perhaps the wireless module in the laptop is failing; or wireless antenna wires going to wireless module, are loose. (Loose connections)

The computer you are using now has Adobe Reader on it, which uses PDF files.

After you click on the above file name, it may take up to 30 seconds, before the first page comes up.

WLAN Module - HP part number - HP 593836-001, or HP 504593-003

Click on the photo to enlarge. Note the gold plated contact pins in front. The WLAN Module plugs into the motherboard, using these contacts.

Tougher to explain; See the AS of Ascendtech?
Right above them is a small round gold plated terminal.

IF I am correct the White wire, from the Wireless Antenna, connects to it. (Terminal -> 1)
The Black wire connects to the other, small round gold plated terminal. (Terminal -> 2)

YOU will know for sure when you look at it.
The two Wireless Antenna wires, MUST go back they way they were originally, if removed.

The connector on the ends of the two Wireless Antenna wires, that go on the WLAN Module terminals, are flat female spade connectors.

They have a spring loaded 'Tang'. When removing the Wireless Antenna wire connector; the connector is slid off, pulling the connector back from the wire side. (Do NOT pull on wire, though!)

'Corrosion' can develop, on those small round gold plated terminals, on the WLAN Module.
It is advised to use a pencil eraser, and clean them.
(Gold isn't supposed to corrode. Just a term I used to try, and explain)

Rub the eraser all around the small terminal, and into the small shape of the terminal. The eraser will conform to the shape of the terminal, after rubbing a bit. (Eraser wears to the shape)

Suggest clean both terminals. Use air to remove the eraser dust.
(Keep your little fingers OFF of those terminals though! Your body carries Static electricity)
You can use a can of compressed air for computers, if available; or air pressure from your mouth will be sufficient.

Also clean the 'spade' connectors for each Wireless Antenna wire.
I know the eraser does not fit inside the connector. However after rubbing with the eraser for a small period, the eraser shape should conform, and be able to get in pretty deep.

Remove eraser dust with air.

If the connectors on the Wireless Antenna wires, seem to be loose on the WLAN Module terminals; GENTLY see if you can squeeze the connectors, using a pair of pliers. (Connector NOT on WLAN Module terminal, when you do!)

Check for fit. Must fit pretty tight.
Reconnect Wireless Antenna wires to WLAN Module.

Try this. If to no avail, suggest replacing WLAN Module.
(Get the correct one. Use it's HP part number)

[ Just for edification;

The two wires, Black, and White, of the Wireless Antenna; connect to the WLAN Module.
They then route up through the body of the laptop, (Through Channels, and Latches), up through the right Hinge.

(Look at Page 95 in the Service Manual)

From the right Hinge they feed up into the Display Assembly.
This is what the WLAN Transceiver with wireless antenna wires, assembly looks like, not installed in the laptop,

The silvery cylindrical looking object on the left side, connected to the White wire; and the object above it, connected to the Black wire; are installed in the LCD screen assembly ]

Need to replace a keyboard on a Fujitsu Lifebook N3010. Dropped beer on it. Now some of the keys aren't working. Would like detailed inst's on how to crack this comp open.

I have stripped many laptops down and to remove keyboard is reasonably complex and replacements are also expensive. Dowload a manual off the net is the best and follow instructions to the letter. Ther isnt enough room here to describe the procedure.

How to remove hard drive from Fujitsu Lifebook N3010 PC laptop

Remove the DVD drive, and then there are 4 outer screws holding the hard drive chassis in place. There are also 4 inner screws that hold the hard drive to the removable hard drive chassis, those do not have to be removed to remove the hard drive from the computer. Carefully remove the screws so they don't fall into the holes on the sides of the screws, and then slide the hard drive out of the pin slots.
