On most Gps unit that means you lost the signal to the satellites. Each manufacturer has a different way of saying it but it all means the same thing. If your in an open area with no obstructions over head (like going through a tunnel while driving or tall trees in a forest that would block your signal) your signal should come right back. If not contact your vendor of your unit there is an internal problem with it.

I hope this helps you out if it does then please leave me a YES that I tried to help you. Thank you.

Garmin nuvi 205w gps black dot problem

Please be more specific. There is a calibration screen where black dots are shown and you press them to calibrate the touchscreen. Is this what you mean? If you press them and nothing happens, your touchscreen may have failed and needs to be replaced.

My typewriter doesn't move forward every time i type ... what do i do?

You may need to reset your margins with the margin set button on either side of the roller. If the carriage is stuck right in the middle and will not move forwards or backwards, there is a little toggle button right under the carrier return handle. You may have to turn your TW on it's right side to see this small hidden button. This locks the carriage down for travel. Find that little toggle and move it.

Why no detailed maps in my Garmin 255W when

tap the screen and it will move it in for more detail or less - if you have a + sign on the right side of the screen you can also press that.

Just bought it. used it for 1 hour and it went dead.charged it all night and now i cant power it up by moving power button to left

that's not a good sign rarely happens just take it back to your retailer even without a receipt they should give you an exchange for the same or a similar unit.

I am getting a blank (white) screen on my tomtom. It is a brand new device and was working fine in the house when I set it up but since moving it to the car it will only show a blank screen. It now shows...

Sounds like you've got a lemon there. It will happen; make enough of something and a few duds will pop up. If it's a new unit, you should consider returning it to the retailer for exchange as defective. If it's too far past their return period or they are just snotty about the exchange, follow the manufacturer's procedure for obtaining warranty service. The manual should provide contact info and other instructions. You could also check their website to see if there are any other options open.

It may be that the unit just needs to be reset, but if you're having problems this early in its life you don't know what might happen later on. This could be a sign of some inherent weakness. If it acts up out of warranty, you'll have to pay for repair. Let the manufacturer eat the cost now.

GPS not able to lock (SNR often 0, sometime in thee 5-10 range)

Me again...I took the unit apart and found out that there is a coax cable between the back board and the middle board. The cable has plug in connectors (v. small size) and the female connectors are soldered SMT on the boards. They are coming out quite easy..so one of them was literally ripped off the board. I soldered it with quite a fine iron, did a reset and I am back in business.....as a footnote my readings in AZ /El were all zeros!!!!

Josh, The grey cable that you see (sometimes it comes in a black woven cable as well) as soon as you open up your unit has to be connected to the main board in the corner. Additionally on the I/O card or GPS board (the board that's attached to the rear cover) has to be connected as well. If you see any loose cables and you find a place it fits, plug it in. So, the answer to your question is yes, that could be the problem. -Daniel
