The In use display on the hand set confirms that the hand set has a faulty message.
Now if the telephone line is checked , it must be about +50 volts . Now if the line on connection drops to less than +10 Volts then there is a short in the dialer.
If on removal the voltage comes back then it is confirmed..
Now there is a dialer IC and a switching device- can be high speed switching transistor. Please check the transitor and the IC for short or that they trigger with a false signal.
If so disconnect the signal that switches to trace it to the dialer or the processor IC.
Only if the line to the phone is connected and shows the full voltage then the fault is isolated and the disconnected components or section must be probed.

I have a model KX-TG6445T PANASONIC 5 HANSET CORDLESS PHONE SYSTEM, THE PHON PHONE HAS NO DIAL TONE, AND SAYS PHONE IN USE. COMPUTER WORKS SO THINK IT IS A PHONE LINE AS THEY SHARE THE SAME LINE . HELP!

hi ... try this, change the cord in first.
if this don`t work: and make this test. whit another phone connected maybe in other place of the house(check first if you have dial tone ), plug the problematic phone, wait few minutes press talk on the other phone. if don't have dial tone the problem is the phone unit ,was impact by a lightning on the phone line.
few minutes after you connect the cord the line make a shortcut.
only an electronic technician can repair that, and sometimes is expensive.

Hi i bought my new panasonic KX-T7730 but when i bring it home and try to make a call its not working there is no dial tone can u plz help me

Did you just buy the 7730 or do you have other ones in your house? Since a 7730 is designed to plug into a Panasonic SYSTEM, you'll be waiting a long time to make it work if you're plugging it into a regular phone line :-)

Have 2 lines on my panasonic phone, the first line has no dial tone

Do you plan on doing anything to help yourself? In a room somewhere, there's a Black and Blue cabinet wiht jacks on it. One of those jacks is the one that contains dial tone for line 1. You also have an interface somewhere that has line 1 and it has a modular jack to plug into (usually). You have to take a REGULAR phone, not the Panasonic digital phone, and plug into the line to determine if it's inside or outside trouble. It will probably be outside, then you report it to whoever supplies your phone lines.

If it is inside, you can always swap the plugs for lines 1 & 2 to see if you have a programming issue. This assumes you have a TDA-50 or lower or NCP phone system. If you have a TDx-100/200/600 then you need to be a little more familiar with troubleshooting.

I DID NOT GET ANY DIAL TONE? CALLING NO THING JUST LIGHT SHOW UP?

Somewhere, there's a line connected to the phone system cabinet. If you press all 3 CO buttons and you get a light with nothing else, you need to check the lines with a regular phone at the cabinet to see if the lines went dead. Those lines will trace to a demarc point outside.

Two phonelines no longer accessible. Using Panasonic KX-T7730 with a Panasonic KX-TES824 system. Lines were working fine and have now disappeared. They don't ring in and I can't ring out on them. ...

This is most likely a service provider issue. If these are analog lines, take a regular phone, not a Panasonic system phone, and plug it into wherever the CO1 CO2 CO3 lines go into the cabinet. If they work there, you have a system fault (not likely). If they don't you have a line problem.

Make sure that you plug the phone into the lines coming in, not into the cabinet :-)

Panasonic KX-FM220 fax machine does have a dial tone

I would double check your phone cord. There is usually 2 jacks in the back of the fax machine. 1 is for Line, and 1 is for phone.
Your phone cord should be hooked up in the LINE jack that goes to the wall.
I would also double check your phone cord on another phone to make sure the cord is good.
If you look at the clear connector that you plug into your wall and fax machine, does it have 4 copper/gold color wires contacts imbedded in the clear plastic connector?

Another thing to try, if you fax machine has a Line and a Phone connector, try plugging in a phone in the PHONE connector. Then hook up another phone cord going from the LINE to the WALL jack.
If you get a dial tone on your Phone, then you know you have it connected correctly. If no dial tone, then I would go back to the phone cord.
check those things and get back to me and I will see if I can help you with more suggestions.
Good luck.
Mac =)

My KX-TG 8231B

Make sure the phone is pluggd into the wall properly. If so and no dial tone is detectable make sure you installed the batterys on the handsets correctly and that they are fully charged. If you have a friendly neighbor with a working phone line plug youre phone into their line and if it does not work and you followed my previous instructions seek a repair center in youre area that honors panasonic warranties. If the phone is pluggd in at the neighbors house and it works use it to call the phone company.

Changing an ordinary phone to a PABX Phone

The KX-T7730 is a proprietary phone that needs to be connected to a Panasonic phone system. It sounds like you took the phone home and are trying to use the special features. These phones are "dumb terminals" everything is performed (and stored) at the control unit.
