84 Replace PC Kit message and red light flashes, printer will not work. Purchased PC Kit approx 3 wks ago, needs to be reset.

You might have to uninstall the printer restart your computer then reinstall your printer
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to ports(COM&LPT) + to expand you should see a communication port and Ecp printer port you might see a yellow?question mark this will mean you need to install a new driver for this device right click you will have options to update driver,disable,uninstall

Replace pc unit problem on Lexmark W840 Laser Printer


Here is an excerpt I found from the W840 user manual. Looks like you need to change the photoconductor kit. Here is the link for the user manual: images.lexmark.com/publications/pdfs/w840/eng/ug.pdf
To ensure print quality and to avoid damage to the printer, the printer stops operating after the photoconductor kit has reached approximately 60,000 pages (Letter/A4). The message 84 Replace PC Unit is displayed when the printer reaches this point. If the Toner Alarm setting is set to Single or Continuous (default is Off), the printer automatically notifies you before the photoconductor reaches this point and displays the message 84 PC Unit Life Warning. To avoid having the printer stop operating, replace the photoconductor kit when you first receive the 84 PC Unit Life Warning message. Once the photoconductor kit has been replaced, normal printer operation resumes

We are receiving the error message "84 oc life exhausted". What can we do to solve?


84 PC Life Exhausted indicates that the photoconductor unit has reached its functional life. The photoconductor kit will need to be replaced. The printer will not function so long as the Exhausted message remains on the display. The only way to clear the message is to install a new photoconductor. After replacing the photoconductor unit, you need to manually reset the pc page counter as well. Thank you for choosing Lexmark.

If you have just replaced the pc (photoconductor) kit, you also need to reset the pc (photoconductor) counter. Here's the link for instructions on how to reset the page count: http://bit.ly/agYtVo . Or simply press and hold the CANCEL button while the printer is on and the front cover open until all lights are flashing. Hope this helps. My red light is flashing, I have changed cartridges, although it was not time. What can I do now. I just purchased this 5 months ago.


you may try to reseat the Ink cartridges for 2x's if this flashing redligght still flashing. YOu may also try to reseat the printhead of your printer.

Now if the troubleshooting will not solve the issue, since you just replace the cartridges there might be a problem on the printhead itself., You need to call kodak for printhead replacement toll free 1 800 421 6699 ext 05.

Your printer will not work if you have an error or flashing red.

Oil light flashing, last oil change 7 wks ago


I belive they didn't reset the oil light timer. I belive the sequence is 1. key on (not acc with engine off)
2. step on the brake pedal 5 times within 10 seconds. 3. key off. 4. start car. 5. check if the light went out. you may have to try it a few times to get it.

Printer trouble


Power cycle the printer. If problem remains, try a partial reset. You can do the partial reset as follows:
1. Unplug and replug the unit.
2. when lights flash on power up, hold down the ON/RESUME and PAGE SIZE buttons together.
3. When only the ON/RESUME button light flashes, you can release the buttons.
4. When the lights stop flashing, the reset is all done!

If problem remains, you are fully justified to ask HP to replace the unit for you (well, if you're still in warranty!). Good luck :)
