Welcome to FixYa.

For camera's that won't turn on or will turn on but automatically turn off. First thing you need to check if the battery was fully charged.
Second, check if the battery was placed in right direction.

If those two solution was done, You need to removed the battery and re-insert it again.
Also try to install new fully charged battery.

If this issue will continue you need to contact your service center because this might have a camera malfunction.

Feel free to send us your comments or suggestion if this solution was helful.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Even with new baterries the camras turns on momenterily then turns right off.

I had the same problem with my camera. What I did was turn it on and grab the outside of the lens so that it did not retract. I then turned it off and then on again and it worked hust find. It seemed that something in the retraction and turn off process was out of sync. My camera works just fine now.

The Same problem

I'm not sure why this works for me, but I think it's worth a try:

1) First, take your SD card out of the camera.

2) Then turn on your camera and let it turn itself off.

3) Read the next step first and be ready to press the shutter release button (take a picture) right after the LCD screen turns on

4) With the camera lens pointed down towards the floor (aim down), turn on the camera. At this point the LCD screen should not be blurry anymore. Immediately press the shutter release after confirming that the LCD is not blurry. If the camera stays on and you can review the picture (most likely of your feet), then you are almost done.

5) Turn off the camera and re-insert your SD card.

5) This may not be a permanent fix, but point the camera lens downward whenever you turn on the camera. It should work normally if you do this. Mine worked normally (meaning I don't have to point it downward when I turn it on) after doing this several times. Your results may vary.

Turning on the camera.

I had the same problem. I tried turning it off and hitting the camera on the palm of my hand but that didn't work. But, hitting it one time on the palm of my hand WHILE THE CAMERA WAS TURNING ON worked. I turned the camera on, it moved the lens out and I hit it one time on my hand and it works perfectly now.

Someone suggested it was a problem with the internal lens which makes sense. Also, be careful not to hit a sensitive part of the camera on your hand. I used one of the corners.
