Hi Rick,

To change the fuel filter:

1. Drain the gas from the tank and run the saw until it is completely out of gas.
2. Remove the top cover. You might also have to remove the air filter.
3. Locate the fuel line from the tank to the carb. Detach the line from the carburetor.
4. Feed some of the line into the tank if you can. With pliers, pull filter far enough out of tank through the fill hole so you can get the filter and a little of the line.
5. Pull the filter off and replace with new one by twisting it onto the line.
6. With pliers, pull the line back to the carb from the top and reattach to the carb.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate your vote. Thank,

Handie Andie

Why rapid fuel consumpsion on the husqvrana 455 rancher?

There are only a few reasons, either the saw is running too rich on the carb settings ( i think you would know notice this due too poor engine performance ) or the air filter is blocked ( again this would effect engine performance ) or the the tank is leaking.

My 455 rancher bogs down when i give it gas it's not even under a load new plug air filter, fuel filter, made carb adjustments like manual said running 93 octane gas.it,s still bogging

Make sure the chain break is releasing all the way. When the saw is not running release the chain break and make sure you can move the chain back and forth by hand. If you can there is a small fuel filter in the gas tank that should be replaced. Make sure the fuel lines are not spongy because they could collasp when the engine is running starving the carburetor for fuel.

Husqvarna 455 rancher has no power at full throttle, but will start and idle normal.

Check for plugged fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler. Check the fuel lines for decay or other damage. Check the chain for proper oiling and not so tight that you can't turn it by hand. Hope this helps!

I have a husqvarna 455 rancher that won't run at full throttle unless the choke is on. It runs at half throttle fine.

Clean or replace the fuel filter. Check the fuel lines for decay or other damage. Check the muffler for plugging of the screen. Be sure to run with fresh fuel mix and to shake the container thoroughly each time just before filling the tank to prevent oil starvation. Hope this helps!

I have a husqvarna 455 rancher. It was working

Take it right back to repair shop and have them fix under their warranty.

It is possible the fuel hasn't got to the carbureator due to plugged fuel filter or fuel finder OR an air leak in the fuel hose.
