Question about Toshiba Satellite A300-0CF035 Notebook
If it used to run longer, but now only runs that long, then that means your battery is dieing and you should purchase a new one (you can buy one here). However, if it has always been like that, it's just the battery life of your laptop and there's really not much you can do. There are things you can do to extend battery life, however.
1) Use a lower power plan when running on battery.
Using a lower power plan will make your computer run slower, however because it uses less of everything, your battery will run longer. I generally only use this when unplugged, as there's really no need to when plugged in. To change the power plan, go to the control panel and sort by icons, then find power options or something similarly named.
2) Lower the screen brightness.
Lowering the brightness can be annoying, but when you're really looking to extend the battery life, this can help somewhat. Display brightness is generally found along with power plans in power options.
3) Be smart with what you do on battery.
Different programs take up different amounts of battery, as will running lots of them at once. If you're browsing the internet, try to only have your browser open and only 1-3 tabs. Don't play intensive games, like FPSs, while on battery as those will take the most power.

Normally when the battry gets to that point the only way to fix it is to get a new battery. If you have had the computer for less than a year the battery may still be under warranty.
Once a battery develops what is called "memory" it is almost impossible to alter. Memory develops over time when the battery is not drained all the way and then allowed to recharge completely. Newer battery designs have preventives for this but still may happen.
