Ok so I am having a problem with craftsman garage door, The sensor light are right on green and one orange, but i still have to hold down the button in the garage to shut the door. Also today i thought that light were out of line to I took the wing nut off and then the light stayed the same so what is going on? The remote door openers work but you have to hold it down to close it and the key pad doesn't work at all.

If when you try to close the door the main light flashes 10 times and the door starts down and then reverses to the open position you have a door sensor problem. Make sure the lights in the sensors are not flickering ever so slightly. The color of the lights doesn't mean anything. The keypad sounds like a separate problem. Make sure the battery is good.

Garage door will only shut if I hold down wall button, sensors are aligned, one is green, one is orange, this happened after a lightning storm

If when closing the door it reverses to the open position and the main light flashes 10 times it is a door sensor problem. Make sure the small light on each sensor is on and not flickering ever so slightly. (check closely) Tweak them a little even though they may seem to be okay. Check for 5vdc between terminals 2 and 3 on the rear of the motor unit. If there is no voltage or if it is greater than 6vdc the logic board is bad.

On the sensor for the craftman garage door opener 1 is orange and the other is green and my garage door doesn't open with the remotes

Nothing wrong with the sensors. They don't work when the door is opening anyway. Only when closing. Make sure the light in the wall control is not flashing. If it is press and hold the lock button for 3 seconds.

If your sensors are not pointed at one another the light on one of them will go out. Tweak them a bit. If you cannot get the light to come on then your sensors are bad.

If the main light flashes 10 times when you try to close the door it is a sensor problem. Make sure they are not flickering ever so slightly and that they are not loose on their brackets. Tweak them a little bit.

Sensor lights are steady grn - have to hold closer to close

My service shop says that the sensors can go bad and still have the lights on steady. Also sun lite on the receiver sensor (green led) can cause a problem or if they have gotten wet.

Play with the alignment and if still a problem new sensors are about $40 a pair. Or if you have another door that works OK, swap the sensors to see if that is the problem.

Door will only close when held down

That normally happens when the sensors aren't aligned. Both sensors have led lights on them the yellow/orange one will stay on all the time the green one will go out if it cant see the other sensor. Possibly theres a wire that's broken or the other sensor is really out of alignment. Check every inch of wiring from the sensor to the opener, remove wire nuts if present and check the connections. The wires that are used are small, solid and can break easily. Also see if there's a staple that's too tight, move the wire abit where it's stapled and look for damage.

Garage sensor problem

The colour on the sensors doesn't change.
One is orange constantly and the other is green when detecting a signal from the orange sensor.
If the green is flickering, they are not adjusted correctly.Move the green sensor until you get a good solid green. Holding the wall pad button down, just bypasses the sensors.

Try adjusting only the sensors so that they are solid.

In addition, check the little yellow light on the back of the machine and count the flashes.
The number of flashes will tell you what the error is in your manual.
