Removing stand arm

Hi all

Thought I'd share this.Lenovo discontinued the excellent L1940P, which had a stand that allowed pivoting as well as tilting and height adjustment.

So I've bought a L1951P and mounted it onto a stand from Ergotron.

Problem: the Lenovo comes with a hinged arm extending below the bottom of the screen. The Lenovo-supplied stand fits on the end of this arm. How to remove this arm so that it doesn't get in the way of a VESA mounting?

Well, I called Lenovo tech support, and they know nothing beyond what's in the manual that I've read. They claim that this arm is an integral part of the case and can't be removed. Wrong. I really love it when the people I talk to in tech support are actually people who know more about their product than I do...

At the top of the arm is a cylindrical plastic cowling covering the arm hinge. Put the monitor down flat on its front (on a cloth is a good idea to prevent scratches), tilt the arm upwards away from the case, and use a pen-light to look into the gap under the arm. You'll see a little tab on each side, inside, which is part of the cowling and locks the cowling onto the main case.

Use a small flat-head screwdriver to gently push this tab outwards - if you can apply a little pressure away from the case (i.e. upwards, as the case is downwards at this point) as well, you'll see the cylindrical cowling come away from the case on that side. Repeat on the other side. Remove the cowling, and you can access the 3 bolts that hold the arm onto the case. Done!

Tip

How to remove the case on LCD monitors

This tip will explain how to open the case on most LCD monitors. Most monitors will eventually have a problem with the power supply and need servicing. The part most people have difficulty with is opening the case to get to the electronics. You will need a phillips screw driver and a small flat blade screwdrivers. You will first need to remove the stand, place a bath towel on a flat table, lay the monitor down and unscrew the screws holding the base and remove. Next you will need to remove any screws that are holding the back plastic case on, they will normally be in the 4 corners and possibly 1 in the bottom center of the back. Now take the small flat blade screwdriver and insert it between the two halves of the case in the center of the bottom. Be sure to not do this by the control panel so you don't break it. Gently pry the two halves apart. Most monitors will have several plastic latches around the perimeter of the case, usually 2 on each side that will need to be released. As you separate the case halves the latches will release and the back will separate from the front. You will need to unplug the control panel cable at this time before you can get to the electronics. Now you just need to use the phillips screwdriver and remove the metal shield from the electronics to get to the power supply. See pictures below.

Hi,

Try this quick repair and see if this fixes your Dyson in terms of not going in the upright position: This is a frequent problem that we see come in on Dysons. If this doesn't fix it, please feel free to just use the clarification request and let me know this didn't fix it.

Step 1.
Turn power off and unplug the machine.
Tilt the machine backward to a 45° angle.

Step 2.
  • Hold the section under the airway inspection pipe.
  • The black forward lock button must be held down simultaneously, otherwise the valve carriage will not move.
  • Pivot this section upwards until it clicks into place.
  • Release the black button once the valve pipe carriage is moved up into place.

How to open the HP 19 inch flat screen monitor

You need to remove the stand first, and then using small flat screw driver to release the four tabs at the bottom edge of the monitor.
I myself never have to replace the power switch on these series yet.

    AOC lm929 monitor

AOC LM929 or Envision EN-7100 removal instructions:

DANGER!!! UNPLUG and allow the monitor to discharge before servicing.

with a small flat head screwdriver, insert into the edge and pop open the small plastic

pieces that surround where the stand connects to the monitor. put plastic pieces aside.

lay monitor on soft flat surface front side DOWN. with a phillips head screwdriver,

remove 4 screws in the center that hold on the stand. put stand and screws aside.

lay monitor on soft flat surface front side UP. insert flat head screwdriver into the

side edge of the grey plastic and turn screw driver so the plastic surrounding the

screen edge pops up exposing an area surrounding the screen. put plastic rectangle

    piece aside.

slide out plastic buttons piece from the side and put aside.

with a phillips head screwdriver, remove 8 screws (4 on top and 4 on bottom) that hold

the screen assembly to the back housing. now lift screen assembly out of the plastic

housing. put back plastic housing and screws aside AND lay the monitor screen with the

FRONT side down on a flat soft surface.

with a phillips head screwdriver, remove 2 screws that hold on the metal electronics

cover. slide the cover down and remove. put the cover and screws aside.

USE CAUTION!!! Some components may still contain a charge.

    check fuse... whatever...

    Sam.SyncMaster750S control buttons not responding

First, be aware that the flyback xformer can carry a 50,000 volt charge that can arc to anything grounded. Unless you are possitive the chasis is not hot, I'd forgo pulling it apart.

That said, if you turn the monitor on its face and remove the stand. You'll see two screws on the bottom corners of the monitor housing. Remove them. Next, turn the monitor upright with the screen facing you. you'll see two VERY small openings along the top edge of the monitor bezel. Insert a small flat-headed screw driver into each opening, and press gently down. You should hear the locking tabs release. DO NOT pry the case as you will damge it. With the screws out and tabs released, the case will easily break apart.

A quick temporary fix - parcel tape, or one of those stretchy cord (bungy?) with the hooks on the end. Anything more effective would probably require other parts to be replaced.
