Question about Emerson Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have Emerson TV/ VCR / Dvd. The tape rewinds, but just before time to stop/eject, the power turns off. Is it safe for me to squirt WD40 into the slot when there's no tape inside? Or should I just buy a new unit? Betty

Do not put wd40 into the unit as it could attack plastic parts making it worse. You can squirt Servisol Video 40 without harm to the device. However i would have a look inside by taking the top cover off and see if you can see any damage or objects stuck etc. If you can find the VCR's mode switch that might need a clean with Servisol.

Tv turns on but will not play tape that is in the machine. after

some times you can hit the power and eject button about the same time and it will eject the tape try this a couple of times to see what happens if that does not work then you can take the back off after you unplug from outlet for ac there is a belt that is black that should look like a long ruberband turn the pullys one way or the other to eject the tape manualy.

What do I do when my Emerson TV keeps turning off by itself?

I had the same problem with mine turning off after 3-5 seconds. After much research I found a suggestion that on some combo units the vcr part could have a power supply cutout if it is not working correctly. I tried to insert a tape and found that the tape mechanism would not accept a tape. I used a little bit of force and managed to insert a tape. I then played the tape forwards and backwards and the power stayed on! I ejected the tape and found the TV then worked just fine. The power has now been on for over one hour. I hope this give you another avenue to try and fix your problem.

Tape stuck in VCR, won't eject.

depending on th einternal design of the vcr. look for the loading/unloading mech, by finding the blak rubber belt that is looped from the motor to a pully. now turn it one way. it may thak 25 to 50 complete rotations of the belt. try turning both ways, one will load & 1 will unlaod. good luck.

My Tv is turning off by itself

if all you want to do is disable the vcr portion turn the set on , install a blank vhs tape it has to be blank or the vcr will try to read it .and the tv and dvd should work fine. this is a timing problem in the vcr deck its not hard to fix but it is a pain.
