What does invalid battery mean in my motorola flip phone

My tracfone would do that also. Then I would turn it off and turn it back on and it would disappear. Try to do that and see if it helps.

Invalid battery message comes up when I turn the phone on.

I am not familiar with the TracFone V170 but most phones now communicate with the battery. They do this because the battery contains a small computer chip which monitors the charge state, temperature etc.. If this chip is faulty or missing because it is a cheap copy battery, some phones will not work properly. They usually power up okay but will not charge or will charge really slowly. There are various messages they may give including "alien battery", "Invalid Battery" to name a few. If it is unable to communicate with the battery, it will not usually charge as fast as it could because it cannot tell if the battery is overheating so it will always trickle charge an unknown battery.

You will notice a battery like this because it has at least three battery connections. Older ones only had two.

I'm having some troubles with my Motorola Razr battery.

whenever the phone says the battery is invalid it means that the battery which is  being used by phone is not its original battery. every phone has a specific battery no. for  ex. -in nokia 6233 battery no is BP-6m. check it whether it is correct battery or due to over charging it has been blocked to avoid risk of blast. pls rate me thank you

My tracfone will not come on,only the lights

You'll wanna ensure your phone is totally charged. Also, let it completely drain before putting back on the charger. This will help with the charging memory.
As for the phone. Do a master reset: to do a "Master Reset". I went to "Settings," "Other Settings," "Initial Setup," "Master Reset" and put in the security code. "1234" is the security code if you have not reset yours.

It'll get the phone back to as you got out of the box, day one! Your numbers will be fine. You'll notice the ringtone and the wall paper will be the orignals.

I know this will work!

Cheers!

Display screen says "invalid battery" All works fine, what does that mean?

your battery may be putting off an incorrect amount of voltage to the phone, and powering it on (yes) but frying it internally (no!)

Meaning, the battery may make it work, but it is not good for the phone.
