The spongy rubber around the speaker cone has come away/disintegrated and of course they can`t be used. I also noticed the front spongy cover has disintegrated. Do I have a problem with bugs or something....

The foam surrounds degrade with the years. No bugs, just old age. If the speakers are worth it, you can have them repaired at better audio stores.

Well, i bought the pair HB1 at the end of eighties. now the rubber which holds and tights the speaker to the wood is going to get cracks. more and more. how to find speakers as a sparepart to fit them in...

Hello, Klaus, you can buy new foam rings for these speakers from Good Hifi. All you need are a craft knife, Allen key for the screws, and agood soldering ir on. I also have some HB1s from the 80s and have just renewed the surrounds on the speakers. Take care scraping the old foam and adhesive from the speaker cones, The site also has advice and instructons on how to do the job. Good luck

I have 2 Cerwin-Vega speakers that stand on the floor Both have blown bass components and blown fuses. They have adjustable mid and horns and the bass is also adjustable. Can I replace these items...

Hi there,
of course you can replace the bass components and the fuses.
If you are not sure if the bass driver are actually blow try to replace the fuses first. You can easily find the fuses in any electronic components shop (like Radioshack or Maplin).
If the cones are blown they can be repaired (some specialists can do that) or just contact cervin-vega for the spare if available.
