Sears charges over $50 for their part number 15704.

But it's better to order it by the the original Sanyo part 617-073-5889 (better yet, try # 6170735889).

You can order it for $30 or so from Vance Baldwin Electronics or from PartStore.com.

Why wont my kenmore microwave model 721.80012401 glass tray wont turn?

you need to replace the motor
usually you can take the plate out and turn the unit over to access it via a small panel

then unscrew it and disconnect
source the correct one on ebay
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=kenmore+712&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xkenmore+microwave&_nkw=kenmore+microwave&_sacat=0

you can also use a standard type
just match up the label
it will have like a model number then ccw or cw {clock wise or counter clock wise} so matching the right generic type it easy

Need new glass tray for Kenmore microwave bought in 1977. Model # 99371.

They made Microwaves in 1977? wow. I would try an appliance junkyard, or ebay. We have used a microwave safe plate of the right size and it worked well. Good luck!

Our Kenmore microwave oven recently stopped heating. The lights, turning plate and controls all work but with no cooking is occurring. The last time I attempted to heat something up I heard a cracking...

The most likely cause is a bad magnetron, "heats food" the other two possibilities are the high voltage capacitor and diode. The cost to repair will a approach a new microwave oven.

Need to replace broken glass plate for kenmore elite microwave model number 565.61584011

The tray used to be part number 16264 but it's no longer available.

That model oven was made by Sanyo.

If you have the old one, you can contact Martin Microwave with the dimensions and they may be able to find a suitable replacement.

No heating

Sounds like the magnetron has failed. This is the component that produces the microwaves that heats the food.

The cost of the magnetron is about 95% of the cost of a microwave oven. Most people don't, for this reason, replace the magnetron, they replace the whole oven which is probably what you will end up doing.

There is a possibility that the circuit that provides power to the magnetron is faulty and you need to take it apart, find the proper electrical leads and test them with a volt meter. To do this you have to remove it from its mounting and take it apart. It is a fairly lengthy process however.

A non heating microwave is typically costly to fix. It might be time for a replacement.

Kenmore 1200 watt sparking when warming empty plates

Unless specifically stated in the manual, you shouldn't use the microwave for warming plates. That is not it's intended use.

I suspect the microwave circuit has failed in some manner.

Reply the specific Sears model number (in the form xxx.yyyyyyyy), and I can help further.

Kenmore Microwave 721.66319 500 Light buld gone out - now what?

First of all, since this will involve disassembly, we have *critical* safety & disassembly info at our site in our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams for your Kenmore model here: http://www.searspartsdirect.com

Enter your model number as 721.66319500.

The light bulb is shown in the "LATCH BOARD PARTS" diagram and it's located in the area of the door switches.

Manufacturers used to include access panels in the rear or side so you could easily change the bulb. That exposed the customer to 110V connectors, and that posed a real liability threat, so they stopped using them.

You now must generally remove the outer cover to replace the bulb.

It's best not to touch the bulb with bare skin, as the oils can shorten thee bulb's life. And I recommend a high quality bulb from places like Home Depot, instead of cheap types from the grocery store.
