Question about Roper RAX7244KQ Top Load Washer
The washer fills up fine, drains fine, spins fine, but during the wash cycle it seems like the bottom of the agitator is working, but the top half of it just sits there. You can turn it by hand all the way around in both directions, seems like it is stripped, is that possible? Can I fix it somehow?
It sounds like you need to replace your agitator dogs (yes, there is such a thing). They are small plastic pieces that are used by the upper portion of the agitator to grip as it turns. This is a common problem when they wear out. If you go to searspartsdirect.com, there's an illustration of what I'm talking about under the "Agitator, Basket and Tub Parts" heading. Item number 10 (part number 80040) is what you need to replace. Just type in your complete model number in the "Search by Model Number" block. The following link provides you with step-by-step instructions on how to do this:
You can find these same parts at repairclinic.com and a cheaper price. Use the part number provided. I hope this helps you.
PS The item is priced for a package of 4.
