Dvd player skips and stops

You may need to buy a lasor cleaning disk. It's a disk that has a little brush on it and it quite literally dusts the lasor inside the dvd player. (higher chance of it being this if it's an older player, or you've had it a few years.) Where to buy:

My xbox has started the open tray error message

Try first cleaning the lasor they sell a disk that you insert into your drive. If this doesn't work get ready to buy a new one, Cause this means when you insert a disk the arm that the lasor is attached to is not going up; so that it can spin and read the disk. If you have a toshiba/samsung or hitachi it will be very easy to buy a replacement and switch the drive key.

Make sure you are using clean/non scratched discs, Also your lasor needs cleaned, If you are any good with your hands take the top off your system, locate the lasor "eye" and rub it gently with a cotton bud dipped in methylated spirits then rub it gently with a dry cotton bud making sure not to leave any fibers from the bud on the "eye" put the top back on, This should do the trick, Hope this helps.

Player is not reading disc

are the disks copys? are they badly scratched? if not you could try unplugging the player. take it apart and locate the lasor lens usually under a plastic plate held by two small screws? get a cotton bud and dip one end into isopropyl alchohol or meths and clean the lasor lens rubbing lightly in a circular motion then with the dry end of the bud wipe lightly the lens dry, put the set together and try a disk, if the above does not work a new lasor is needed,

My dvd player (jvcmodel DR-MV1SU) seems to read some dvds fine, and others I will get an error that says "DISC ERROR". Can you tell me what this means and if I can fix it? thanks

your system gives "disc error" when its lasor cannot read the disc (usually because there is dust/dirt on the lasor "eye") Unplug your system from the socket and take the top cover off your system unscrewing any screws that may be holding it on, locate the lasor "eye" A small lens, Clean the lens with a cotton bud dipped in methylated spirits rubbing gently in a circular motion then dry the lens with a dry cotton bud making sure to rub gently and do not leave any fibers on the lens from the bud, Put the system back together and plug in, Hope this helps,

Its most likely something to do with your Blu-ray lasor. Try cleaning the lasor with a Cd/DVD cleaner found in most electrical stores. To play Blu-ray cds and games the lasor is required to work with full presistion, dust or dirt on the lasor can effect the lasors capacity to function properly. If nothing changes, contact the Sony helpline and they will help you through the processes of what to do.
