Sorry but this is gonna hurt, and unless anyone else has an easier solution. You are gonna have to buy Win7 home, why win7, well Sony Vaio only use Win 7.! I had the same problem, you will have to re format the hard drive and set up as personal Then make sure you register it as this give you the recover..
Sorry it sound's drastic. It is, but, we all make mistake's ..

Proof of purchase in extremely reasonable. How would you likeit if someone stole your machine and it was easy to break into your bank details?
Did you pay by credit card? Use that as proof of purchase.
The only way is through your Sony Service Centre.

How do I recover my stolen Sony vaio SN# S01-7002852. I recode in uganda

First you have to report in your local police station with your details & serial number. You have to register a complaint requesting the Sony team for the laptop MAC address. Sony will provide the MAC number and with that MAC address you can easly traceout your laptop.

Call sony, the disk is 12 bucks. I had this problem after my hard drive crashed. Be careful though, because I replaced the hard drive and it would not recognize the disk after that. Sony wanted me to pay 100 dollars to fix it.
