First, make sure the battery you replaced is facing the right direction. Generally the Positive (+) end should be facing you. Also, check for corrosion in the battery holder. If you see any, WD40 and a Q-Tip works well to clean it. Also check the peizo ignitor tip(s) (Where the spark is to light the burner(s) ) for grease buildup. A cotton ball and alcohol will clean those. Check the wiring from the ignitor module to each spark igniter to make sure it is secure. If not tighten it.

All of the above should help you troubleshoot and hopefully solve the problem.

Now I am also creating a barrier against the water getting in by using dielectric grease in the battery cavity. The grease can be picked up at O'Reilly Auto Parts in a little packet for $1.29 (5/30/14).

Why won't my Weber grill ignite after installing a

Disclaimer- be careful when working with gas. Starters in gas grills are just about novelty anymore. Often, they only light 1/3rd or 1/4th of the burners and they usually stop working within one grilling season. I recommend using a wand lighter. Try to light just one burner but if doesn't light in 5 to 7 seconds, turn the gas off and wait to try again. Incidentally, you are turning the gas on at the tank, right? You should hear it when you turn the burner on.

Infared burners ignitor won't work

Mike, have you replaced the battery in the igniter button ye? That's the first place to start troubleshooting. Be sure you install the new battery facing the same direction as the old battery. Also, check the interior contacts of the battery holder for corrosion. If you find any, use a Q-Tip sprayed with a little WD40 to clean it.

If the above doesn't solve the problem, trace the igniter wire from the igniter button to the spark igniter at the burner for damaged wire or a loose connection.

And finally, try match lighting the infrared burners to make sure that they are getting an adequate flow of gas.

Hope this helped you t troubleshoot and solve the problem. Happy Grilling and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Webber gennines grille have to press real hard to get to ignite grille not very old

Since you model has battery powered ignition, it may simply be a case of having to replace the battery. And while you have it out, check for corrosion on the contacts, inside the battery holder. Take note of which way the old battery is facing in the holder. As you want to install the new battery exactly the same way.

I hope this helped you and Happy Grilling. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have a circa 2003 Weber Q and need to replace the ignitor pushbotton. It is housed in a circular tube on the left side of the grill. How do I remove the old one so a new one can be installed? It seems...

The igniter simply unscrews from front to back and then slides out. There is a lock screw off lock washer behind the head of the igniter.

Weber no longer stock the part, but you can find it at the following link.
http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/gasgrillparts/brands/weber/weber-igniters.html

In addition, I am including a link to your Owner's Manual which should help you on removing the igniter and installing the new one. http://help.weber.com/manuals/pdf_files_2011/Gas/Weber%20Q/Q100120200220_OwnersGuide_41005_112706.pdf

Hope this helps you and Happy Grilling.

When i tried to start my weber q after the winter i put the dial to start and pressed the button it clicked but wouldn"t start i had put a new tank on. my e-mail is debbiedowney3@hotmail.com

Do a few things, check that there are no gas leaks (soapy water) can help. if there are no bubbles, at the valve where you attached to the tank. shut the tank off wait 1or 2 minutes then slowly open the LP gas cylinder. try to start the grill. If nothing shut the gas off and check the flame grids for water, spider webs, or holes clogged with fat and filth. Also check the igniter for spark, dead batteries or bad connection at electrode may cause it to fail.

Starter button doesn't work. can't be pushed down so grill won't start. do I need a battery for this part?

When the igniters stop working the backs are corroded. Clean well and reinstall or replace altogether. In the meantime you can use long fireplace matches to light the burner until you are ready to effect repairs.

My weber gas grill will not heat up past 300F

Hi John,

I just experienced the same exact problem ! I just bought a brand new Weber E-310 a 3 burner grill.
After I seasoned it up with cooking oil,I turned all the burners to high, opened the tank and clicked electrnic button several times , the grill was on then I went inside, I came out about an half-hour later and it was saying around 275 degrees..
I looked into my manual and there is a gas limit control valve that shuts down gas flow, when it thinks there is too much gas flow.

Sloution;
Turn the propane gas knob to off
Turn the gas grill knobs to Off.
Click the igniter several times to clear out any gas.
Then unscrew the regulator from the tank,( I then blew into the tank hole and regulator),
Screw back on the regulator to the propane tank.
I then clicked igniter again couple of times.
Now open your propane tank.
Then turn on front burner while clicking igniter, this will lite 1st burner.
Then turn 2nd burner on low then to high.
And if you have 3rd burner or more, turn low then to high!

John I did this and my grill went to 600 plus in a few minutes!!

The problem was turning the gas grill knobs on first then opening the tank then lighting...
You have to open propane tank with knobs off, THEN AS SOON AS YOU TURN ON 1ST KNOB, YOU MUST IGNITE ...

Ignite prob

You've got two different things going on.  First - the type of igniter used on your model does wear.  I have had mine for over 10 years and have gone through 3 such igniters - and I grill nearly 3 times per week over the 25 week "grilling" season where I live. Spring for the $12 part and just replace it. The other issue sounds like a clogged cross-over system.  I would remove the burners, including the cross-over bar on the far left side that connects them.  Clean the exterior with a stiff steel/brass brush and the inside with a bottle brush.  Make sure all the holes are clear to allow gas to flow easily - use a wooden tooth-pick to do this to make sure you don't change the size of the holes! Put that baby back together and I think you'll find you'll be good as new!
These grills are great.  Now, if Weber could only fix the uneven heat problem between the left and right side I'd REALLY be happy!  (I wish they would even just admit there IS a problem!)
Good luck and happy grilling.
