The first step is to search for them, the computer will NOT make files jsut disappear, ever. Something happened, somewhere, like the location where you put them may not be where you thought. This happens when some program wants to place files in a strange location, and the next save the user follows the same default location. This happens often with scans....
Search on the extension (.jpg).

Are you sure the of the location you saved these photos was correct if you can remember at least one of the names you might click start find the search tab this might vary depending on your operating system you might have to select a drive then type in a part of the file name or the full part and see where it ends up or if no luck http://majorgeeks.com/Free_File_Recovery_d6792.html
Free File Recovery is a small and easy to use application that will help you to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This includes files emptied from the Recycle bin as well as images and other files that have been deleted by user error from digital camera memory cards or MP3 players. It will even bring back files that have been deleted from your iPod, or by bugs, crashes and viruses! hope this helps

a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
