Most whirlpool dryers access through front . Depending how old you may have to take the whole front panel off. Unplug before working on it.

I looked through the peep hole in front of my gas dryer and I don't see anything lit.Dryer spins great, but doesn't heat up. What is the problem?

Igniter - The dryer's igniter is what ignites the gas that has entereddryer-ignitor.jpg through the gas valve. It will glow red, then when it reaches a certain temperature, it will trigger a thermostat that opens up the gas valve and that's when the dryer starts to heat the air. If the igniter has failed, the motor will still run but not produce any heat.

Where is the igniter located on dryer

An easy answer: gas (natural gas) dryers have igniters, but your electric dryer has no igniter,
instead it has a heating element (a zigzag arrangement of wires similar to that found in a space heater). Remove the back of the dryer - the heating element will be enclosed in an air duct that feeds heated air into the drum via a vent at the top back of the drum.
If you look into the drum, you can see the vent cover that covers the heated air inlet at the top back of the drum.

My whirlpool gas dryer will not cycle through on Automatic Dry. When I start the dryer it will ignite and heat up, but then after it cools, it will not ignite again and therefore will not cycle. I have...

The burner valve coils (2 in a kit) need replaced . After electricity goes thru them , they will warm up , causing one of them to "open" (short internally). It will not work again till the coil cools back down . Only 2 screws hold the coil bracket on , so , they are not hard to change .Don't have to turn the gas off but do unplug dryer . The burner valve is located in the front of the dryer by removing the front panel .

Whirlpool gas (Propane) dryer

Hi, Remove the small plastic cover on the front lower right hand corner. Start the dryer and see id=f the ignitor glows. If the ignitor glows and shuts down before igniting the flame, follow these instructions. UNPLUG the dryer. This model you need to remove the two screws under the lint screen. Now use a flat blade screw drive and insert it in the gap between the top and the front panel and pry the top up. Now locate and remove the screws on the inside of the front panel in upper corners. The front should lift off. You will see the two black coils on the gas valve. When you remove the three wire coil, make sure the sleeve inside it gets put back on the post the coils slides onto.
If I can assist you further, please let me know.

Dryer repair

There is no pilot. It is electronic ignition via a glow bar.
Remove the front panel. The glow bar and gas valve will be on the bottom right side.
What is your problem?

Whirlpool gas Dryer LGR5636JQ1

theres a thermal fuse located on back panel usually white maybe 2 inches tall 1/2 wide 2 blue wires leading to it. ck for continuity, if none replace that(most common problem)... if good you can go back to the ignitor and unplug the white connector it plugs into. place your meter leads into the connector and turn on dryer, you should get 110v. if you do you have a bad ignitor, if not a thermo's gone bad (check the thermal fuse first though.
