In the oven there are usually two heating elements. one is on the bottom which is the one mostly used and one is inside the oven but on top of the ceiling of the oven compartment. (this is used for broiling food) if you set your oven to broil, check to see if the heating element on the ceiling of oven is red. I almost bet it is. normally the bottom element will go out. these can be changed.

RE: GE cooking center microwave JKP85 - there is

I have exactly the same problem. I take it no one has offered a solution to this. Don't know if this is a lining coming loose and potentially dangerous. Anyone know?

My GE Profile is about 10 years old. Everything

cheapest attempt would be replacing temp. sensor....other component if still not functioning, would be the main computer board, which can be very pricey

Double oven, top oven run by keypad turns off

I have a double oven. The top unit works fine. The bottle unit will turn on to cook or clean. Then after a few seconds it turns itself off.

Never used Convection JTP 5650DI55

Did you try going to the GE website? If not, try it:

http://www.geappliances.com/

When you pull up the website, you can click on the blue down arrow located in the box at the top of the web page, next to the work SEARCH and click on "USE & CARE MANUALS. Put your model number into the next box to the right and hit GO.

If you are having trouble after entering what you believe is the proper model/serial number, you can look at the FAQ (frequently asked questions) section to determine whether you have actually entered the proper number.

Look for a microswitch connected to the lock mechanism at the back of the stove. The switch is probably broken.
