Red light remains on when I fit the brew group and machine won't operate

The email did not tell me how to fix the problem of not being able to refit the brew unit and the red light remaining on.

  • jmcconvi Apr 08, 2011

The red light which stays on (not blinking) is the right lower one. The problem seems to be the brew group which won't fit back in properly and I think it needs resetting.

  • jmcconvi Apr 08, 2011

I believe I have the brewer unit back in properly but the bottom right red light remains on and the machine won't operate.

  • jmcconvi Apr 08, 2011

All of these seem to be all right - it is a continuous red light that remains on. I don't know about the sensors but the machine clicks into gear when turned on but the continuous red light stops it from operating.

Kindly provide more details - Which red light is blinking - the left or the right one?

Thanks and Regards

    Thanks for your response!!

    Remove
the dredge drawer. Open the door. On the left side and towards the back
of the brew group, there is a single screw. Remove the screw. Grab the
handle and pull carefully, but firmly with a quick force. The brew group
should come out. There is a piece that remains in the machine. Slide the
piece down and to the right and it will come off. Insert the piece into
the hole on the backside of the brew group with the clip up. Tighten
the screw and move brew group back into position. If your brew group did
not come out please call your service center.

    To return the brew
group to the centered position, you first need to drop the funnel. To do
this, look on the opposite side of the brew group from the handle. At
the top you will see an object that looks like a sharks fin. If you
follow this piece down you will see 2 horizontal bars on the brew group
body. Push your finger between these 2 bars and the funnel will drop.
Now you can push the puck slide on the left side down and to the center.
If you look down through the funnel you should see a piston. This
should be centered in the funnel. If not just push the slide to the
right until it does. Push the press button and you are now ready to
reinsert the brew group in to the machine. First you must close the door
and turn on the machine without having the brew group in. You will hear
the motor turn on and when it stops completely, open the door and
    insert the brew group.

This is to ensure that the brew group fits properly. However, if the problem still persists, then follow the steps mentioned below :-

    First turn the machine on.

Then take out everything watertank, dreg draw and brewing unit and have the door opened to the brewing area.

have them out for about 1 minute and then put it back together again.

if this doesn't help please check if the machine respond to removing the dreg draw, bean lid.

It will do it by making the constant red light flash instead.

if they respond make sure that the watertank is filled to max.

if that is the case it is the watertank sensor that is broken.

    Thanks and Regards

    Thanks for your response!!

The red blink could be due to various reasons - Either
you need to prime the pump, or the brew unit is not in correctly, the
steam knob is not in the right position, the tray is missing.Even sometimes the sensor on these machines
can be a little temperamental and so we often see them in for warranty repair because of this. The water level sensor is a white rectangular piece (1" x 1/2" x 1/4") located between the water tank and the grinder.
Check out and let me know,so that we could proceed.

    Thanks and Regards

    Thanks for your response!!

As you have inspected most of the reasons, sensor's could also cause the same issue.By passing the sensor is not that easy.Actually the sensor goes down
when the water gets filled. If the sensor does not go down then no water
gets detected.Sticking the sensor down is the option. But its not always
successful. But in some cases cleaning the sensor in machine OFF
condition. Then readjusting the sensor to its place then turning the
machine On helps.but its not 100% possible. In some cases it helps. But
still i advise you try to clean it and try to stick the sensor down
    manually and then check.

In other cases it needs replacement. The Saeco parts are actually not
very easily available online. So the Saeco service center has to be
called to order the parts. But the Saeco service center is not very
helpful and takes some time to provide the part.

    Thanks and Regards

Red light won't stop flashing. Parts are in place

Be sure all coffee grounds are cleaned from beneath the water tray and the grounds tray and the coffee brew group. We had the same problem but finally redid everything, including cleaning the coffee brew group under hot water, drying and replacing carefully until it clicked in place. The moving parts of brew group have to be in exactly the right place. Good luck!

My brew group was stuck, followed instructions and got it out and motor turned to correct position. Put it back together and now nothing...green light comes on and thats it. No motor sound, that's i

Unfortunately I cannot locate your problem or duplicate it. The various units that turn on the red "stop" light are the grounds container, the drip tray and the brew group. When they are reinstalled the light goes out . So if your brew group was stuck and you had to force it out then you should check very carefully that there are no cracks or breaks on the back. Remember this, the brew group must "click" into place and lock so that it does not move in and out unless the "Press" button is depressed. It is possible that one of the above switches that signals the motor to start is stuck, even if the red light is out, and not allowing the motor to turn on. I don't see the reason why your brew group was stuck to begin with. How did that happen?

Saeco Royal Digital Plus - I cannot insert the brew unit into the machine

You will hear the motor turn on and when it stops completely, open the door, pull out the dredge drawer and insert the brew group. Done PS: If it still won't go in you might have a broken brew drive. The gear in the back of the machine where the brew unit goes has 2 large teeth. They should be in the 10:00 and 12:00 position. If they are in the 3:00 and 5:00 or that side you have a broken drive and the gears need to be replaced.

After a cleaning of the group, we're not able to put it back

First step: You need to make the machine think that the group is in place.
Solution: This can be done by locating the three microswitches that need to be set. Turn machine on/Open the door/insert wastetray&dredgebox (switch One)/with plastic stir stix(noconductive material) active brewer microswitch located in the centre of the back wall/with plastic stir stix(noconductive material) active door microswitch located top right side behind door. All 3 switches need to be actived simutainiously with the power one. When installing the brewer, be sure that the microswitch activator slide on the back of the brew group itself is in the up position.
Note: if you do not know what I was talking about(microswitches) best not to attempt
