I have a week signal can yu tell me why please

Hi

Assuming your location receives an average signal strength from the transmitter, a weak signal reception, could be due to:
- Wrong location of your aerial.
- Is it obstructed by vegetation or other buildings?
- Is the aerial pointing in the right direction?
Check the internet for your nearest transmitter or repeater station in relation to your location so you can align you aerial properly (one trick is to look at the direction other aerials around you are pointing and follow accordingly)
Have you installed a good quality cable and connectors?
Have you checked the cable is not shorted or damaged in any way?
Do not introduce kinks of more than 90 degrees

If you live in a weak signal area:
Have you installed a high gain multi-channel aerial?

If you install a good quality cable with good quality connectors and aerial you should have no problems receiving digital TV signals.

Hope this helps

I have a large notice on the tv screen saying that freeview has poor reception which I do not have it covers almost half the screen how do I get rid

means the tv has been trying to get a signal, freeview board is needing an update and if you are using the tv without an aerial. its predate is saying that it should of been updated. will not go off until it gets a freeview update.

My neighbourgh can get freeview tv just using his old ariel, i on the other hand can not. have i done something wrong with the tv set up. thanks

Probably not. Freeview signals are hundreds of times weaker than the old analogue signals, so will show up every single problem on a badly maintained, badly installed old external tv aerial.

In most areas, a tv set-top aerial is a waste of time and even a loft aerial may have problems. Any aerial system which is not direct from the external aerial to the tv can also suffer problems, as each Y-splitter and joint wastes an awful lot of signal.

Your fix is to get a proper modern aerial system fitted. If it's well designed and installed with the proper parts and cabling (does not necessarily mean most expensive) then it should last for another 30 or so years and ideally won't need signal amplifiers.

Note that although your neighbour gets reception, he probably suffers regular picture break-up, freezing and /or pixellation especially in poor weather unless the aerial was in top condition beforehand and was relatively modern.

I get poor reception and wonder if there's a way to boost TV reception.

There are aerial boosters but they not only boost the aerial signal but the noise as well. Some work, some don't. The best option is a new aerial and cable.

Hi,
you may want to try changing the coaxial aerial cable that feeds the tv, these can go faulty. also if you are running a series of tvs off one aerial, you should be using an aerial booster, other wise you will get a signal drop (as displayed on your tv).
If these small things don't cure it, the set requires replaceing as the tuning card is knackered

It sounds like the aerial may be out of line, visit the above site and it will give you all the information for your aerial direction and reception details.(I assume your in the U.K., there will be a site for your country if you google DTV aerial)

Hi there... When it is raining around our house in Elwood, we get signal outages on our LCD screen. I've checked the connections to the wall and everything is OK. But in the last two weeks we have had...

if you are using a satellite dish, then yes the rain is the problem, especially noticeable with heavy downpours, common problem here in the uk.if you are using a standard tv aerial, its quite possible water is gaining entry to the connections on your aerial.picture breakup is usually associated with poor signal reception.you could try replacing the aerial with a high gain type, cheap as chips to buy,and should create a vast improvement.its not the tv...hope this helps and let me know how it goes.....steve

My sky hd box intermitently looses sound then shortly after the picture goes then it freezes any ideas

poor satellite reception... possibly mis-aligned dish (moved by wind?) or a tree/building blocking line-of-sight have a local installer (most tv aerial installers) take a look at the dish/cable (for worn spots on the cable)

When ever the picture freezes intermittendly the problem is usually poor connection on the signal line (antenna or connection on tv) or poor reception. Could be the tuner if the tv has one.To eliminate the tuner possibility try anther tv set if possible.
If you still cannot figure out the problem, let me know what kind of set up you have connected to your tv set.
Do you have a satellite or cable box and if you have splitters.
