Question about HP Deskjet 1120c InkJet Printer

2 Answers

HP1120C PRINTER. My print image starts off perfect, but for the last 1/3rd of the page the image alignment and clarity deteriorates to such an extent that lines and text are blurred, similar to a paper jam. However the paper is feeding as normal. Any one experienced this issue??

Paper settings have been checked and am using same brand & quality of paper.
I dont think its a print head problem, as the print is 100% perfect for the first 60% of the sheet, but then the print work becomes blurred, and lines are running off at an angle to an offset of about 14mm.
If there was an issue with the print head/cartridges i would expect the quality of print to be poor from start to finish.
    What do you think???

Have tried a few more prints and it now seems to be getting worse earlier in the print but finishes better, al be it in the offset location

Hi

Please check that the paper setting is as per the quality of the paper you are using. If not then set it as per the paper quality and test a print. If it still showing the smeared result then most probably the print head needs to be cleaned by running the print head cleaning utility. After the cleaning program is complete, check if the print quality has been improved. If not then the toner cartridges needs to be replaced. Before replacing the toner cartridges please make sure that there is no toner spill in the printer which you can clean out after opening the access doors. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Here's a support article taken from the HP website regarding alignment of print cartridges. Hope this helps.
Introduction This document provides steps to align print cartridges using the All-in-One control panel or the computer. The appearance of the product varies by model. Aligning print cartridges Follow one of these methods to align print cartridges. NOTE: If the same print cartridge is removed and reinstalled, the product will not prompt to align the print cartridges. The product remembers the alignment values for that print cartridge, so there is no need to realign the print cartridges. Method one: Print an alignment page using the All-in-One control panel When a new cartridge is installed, the product aligns the cartridge. The cartridges can also be aligned any time after you install the software. Aligning the cartridges helps ensure high quality output. Follow the steps to align newly installed cartridges.
    1. When prompted, make sure plain white letter or A4 paper is loaded in the input tray.
    2. Press the button next to OK on the control panel display. The product prints an alignment page. Figure 1: Alignment pagec01369744.gif
    3. Place the alignment page print-side down on the right front corner of the glass. Figure 2: Position the alignment pagec01369745.gif
    4. Press the button next to OK on the control panel display. When the On button stops flashing, the alignment is complete. Remove the page and recycle or discard it.
Method two: Print an alignment page using the computer Follow these steps to align the cartridges from the HP Photosmart software.
    1. Double-click the HP Digital Imaging Monitor icon (c01367004.gif ) on the lower right side of the Windows taskbar. The HP Solution Center displays.
    2. In the HP Solution Center, click Settings . Then click Printer Toolbox . The printer Toolbox displays.

Printer printing blured images and text. It looks as if the printer prints a line then about 1/8 to 1/16 if an inch it prints the same line again.

You need to run a new alignment on the machine, Assuming you have the software installed open up the hp help center and print an alignment page after that look at the numbers and letters and line up the marks by selecting the numbers closet to the perfect alignment that you can see after you have finished click on the front of the printers OK button.to finish they try printing a new page. If this does not help try updating your software at http://www.hp.com.

Printing is off center on the HP 6540. The image or page being printed is cut off on the right margin and on the bottem of the page.

ok, most likely your printer cartridges are off. In order to fix this, you can use windows to align them. Click start > Control Panel > Printers and Faxes, and right click the printer thats giving you trouble. Then go to properties. Next, go to the services tab, and click align the cartridges, and continue from there.

Stripes on Images only - Text OK

Perhaps the CMY color heads need alignment. If you have not already done so, run a head alignment from the driver maintenance section. It will print out a page containing several lines and text, and request you select the closest-aligned images. After this is done, do another image print to check for improvements.
Normally, the printer uses the black cartridge for text and the CMY inks for images (even for black on photo and specialty paper). So when you are printing normal text pages on plain paper, only the black ink is used. A good check for this would be to print a normal text page, but select photo paper in the driver to trick the printer into using the CMY inks to make a substitute black text page. If this looks ok, then you are having issues other than cartridge alignment.

    Well, this is just stupide

John, here, at Dell headquarters. A few suggestions that may help: First, make sure the printer is not plugged into the front USB ports on the system. Sounds strange, but that sometimes makes a difference. Second, unplug the printer, restart the system, then plug the printer into a different USB port. That may fix the problem as well. Third, uninstall and reinstall the printer software. That could also do the trick. If none of these suggestions work, I'd recommend calling our tech support.
