Question about HP Computers & Internet
You may have overtightened the screws or put the fan back on upside down and the blades might be rubbing the heatsink

SOURCE: emachine heating issues
Well the system is shutting down for a reason but before you run off & buy a new CPU fan I want you to try something.
Unplug the power cord from the PC. Open your case & ground your self by simply touching any bare metal. (The bottom of the case will do).
Please remove the memory currently in your system. If you have never done this before please check within the manual for your eMachine. (There should be a section on how to install memory).
You can also click on this uTube link, it’s a bit long but you can skip through the video.
If you have some canned air blow out the memory slots.
(Do not place your fingers on the memory contacts at any time).
Re-seat the memory, firmly but gently. Leave the case opened & plug in the power cord. Turn on the PC. See if the fan runs & the system doe’s not shut down. If it still does replace the CPU fan.
Your PC uses an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ / 2.3 GHz CPU.
Here is a replacement AMD CPU fan & assembly.
The CPU will come with thermal tap on its underside. (No need to buy thermal grease).
(Make sure you remove the old thermal grease from the top of the CPU). Use a clean rag with a little alcohol on it. (Not dripping). Allow time for drying. Do not scratch the CPU surface.
Good luck rebecca_fran!
