Question about Acer Aspire One Netbook 8.9" Notebook

1 Answer

I have had my Acer One netbook for almost 5 months and during that time my screen has played up twice. It loses the definition and the colour is all over the place. The first time it went, it corrected itself after a couple of days, however the second time has been playing up for over two weeks and does not seem to be getting better

Right click Desktop click Properties
Check that the resolution is on your normal setting and Colour Depth is set to 32bit
It might be worth checking you have the latest drivers for your graphics card

You can download Driver Genius Free Trial it will tell you what drivers you need for your Graphics
Then you can google them and download them

I think though what you are describing might be the ribbon cable attaching your screen to the laptop, this ribbon cable passes through the hinge of the laptop and sometimes constant moving of the screen up and down can damage the ribbon wire if it is not placed properly.

You will need to factory restore, this will lose any stored data!
1
Start the Acer Aspire One's operating system. Wait for the Acer logo to appear on the LCD screen.

2
Press the "Alt-F10" keys at the same time to bring up the recovery menu. Press "Enter."

3
Click "Next." Follow the prompts that appear on the screen to restore the operating system back to factory settings.

5
Use the drop-down boxes to select the time zone and language information for your Acer Aspire One. Restart the netbook when you are prompted to finish restoring the computer.

The Acer Aspire One Netbook has a hidden partition containing the files required for restoration to the original factory condition. The restoration clears all user data from the C: drive and requires that you have the netbook plugged into its AC adapter as the process takes significant time during which it should not be interrupted at the risk of hard disk corruption. To begun the process....
1. power on the netbook while it is plugged into its AC adapter
2. during power-on, while the Acer Logo is showing, press Alt and F10 together several times
3. Acer eRecovery loads showing the Windows screen momentarily
4. follow the on-screen directions and make the selection to recover the factory default image

When i turn on the netbook it acts like its going to boot but then goes to a blank screen. can not get past the blank screen

Try pressing F2 several times as the netbook powers up. If it does not enter its Setup Utility, then its BIOS has failed. The Acer Aspire One netbooks with early BIOS versions were prone to BIOS failure. Fortunately, the procedure to do an Aspire One BIOS Recovery were posted over two years ago and can be found now in the macles archive. At your own risk, carefully follow the steps given at...

If you are successful, keep the USB stick/thumb-drive with the recovery files and instructions for handling a possible future failure. What circumstances led the BIOS to fail in the first place is unclear but from personal experience after flashing the BIOS on my netbook to a later version in mid-2009, there has been no more BIOS failures. Before doing that, my netbook's BIOS failed twice in about 4 months.

How to fix my acer netbook becouse it comes up with windows did not start successfully

If you're willing to lose all of your information, you can reformat the computer back to factory specs using the Acer eRecovery. To access, you need to reboot your computer and when the fist screen saying Acer comes up press alt and F10 at the same time. If it doesn't work you will need to reboot again and load the BIOS and enable it.

Hi - I have an Acer Aspire One netbook & Acer Game problem

You can check the basic system requirement for the game and then check whether your laptop meets the requirement or not.
If your system meets the requirement then you can try to uninstall the game and then reinstall it.
This should help you.

My Acer Aspire one won't turn on.

I also have this problem with my Acer netbook.  I have only had it for 4 months and am in Turkey on an extended break at the moment.  I have taken the netbook to a dealer here and have been told the problem is the motherboard, verified by Acer themselves.  I am not happy with this as the netbook was not cheap and there appears to be a few Acer models with the same problem
