T/V set ,LG MODEL NR RI 32CZ10RX (BEKO chassis V80.190-08) This set had a dry joint at the scan coil plug (horizontal pin 1) which had arced badly. After repairing this the picture was restored, but it was over wide and stretched on the R/H side, with pincushion distortion.T501 was found to be leaky, but a replacement made no difference. however, it runs very hot, Any suggestions?

Samsung Model HLP5063W 50-inch DLP First, screen had white vertical lines with picture and sound. Now no picture but still have sound. What parts do I need to fix this and how?

This is a common fault as the set on ageing deteriorates in the connections. There is a high possibility that the components over a period of heating and cooling, tend to bring on a problem of dry soldering. So my advice is to check the set for some loose joints that have played on to give you these erratic shut downs or poor performance.

The best way to check for loose connections is to tap lightly when the set is powered on , If there is change while tapping then it seems that there are DRY solder joints. Remove main plug, the covers - with caution of high voltage, check for dry joints, use a good soldering iron to solder all suspected points.

Sometimes the fault occurs when the set warms up, if so you can simulate the heat using a hair dryer on the suspected areas, try with the power supply, distribution, Processor controller, driver controllers on the A/V related sections. Also the use a FREEZE-IT spray can simulate the components to cool and show up the fault.

Based on the above method you must be able to locate the area of fault and solder the sections. Sometimes large IC's- ones with more pins- tend to have drying in some pins and so cause faults related to the IC's protocol. Have a rough idea of looking into the areas to reduce the time of probing.

Will not turn on, burning smell from the back, thin colour vertical stripes in the centre of the sceen

You have lost "Line Drive". Probably a dry joint on the main connector from the scan coils on the main PCBoard.

Tv powers up, but just a thin blue strip on the screen??

which way ?
horizontal line suggests vertical amp failure - dry joints, etc.
vertical line is horizontal scan circuit failure - dry joints, component failure - don't run this too long or it will get expensive

Hi,

This issue is the scan correction or East-West control
You see as the set tube gets bigger so their is a greater need to control the scan
This is achieved by incorporating an East-West correction circuit and its here where the fault lies
You have dry/cold joints in this area which may have got that poor a contact that it no longer makes
Also the poor joints could have damaged the transistors or loading coils in that area too
Its a none do-it-yourself, i am afraid due to the job being done right first time otherwise if something is overlooked it would lead to the new devices failing again!
A technician would probably charge $90-$100 for this repair

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Blue convergance wont allaign verticaly with remote. only horizontal. so yellow shows above blue on picture. how do I correct this without spending money on this?

This is a 2001 model and uses a single STK-393-110 convergence IC----Two possible reasons for problem--

1) There is a plug near the front of the board on the far left(as you look at the set from the back) If this is the set I think it is some develop bad connections on the printed circuit board under that plug--usually the blue may from time to time be good and then bad.

2.) If you see a very large metal heat sink with fins on the far left side of the set-----the convergence chip is there---if this is your set you would have to unsolder the chip and another small chip behind to the left of to get the heat sink out to replace.

3) If you can unbolt the chassis enough to tilt it up so the bottom of all the boards faces the back of the set---I did one of these recently with this exact problem.

4.) If you get the chassis up look for a plug near the front of the board with 10 or more pins---the one I fixed had 2 or 3 pins broken loose from heat from the board----resoldered all of them and problem fixed--This customer wanted me to replace the IC which I did---it was original and this is not the most easy set to replace that part in.

5.) The plug goes to the convergence yokes and usually one of first 3 or 4 pins are broken loose from the board, If the plug connections are not your problem you will have to consider replacing the chip to correct this problem---I have seen at least 4 of these sets where the connections on that plug caused the problem---good idea if it is -----resolder all the pins on the plug and look at a few other plugs to the right of it also.

6.) Let me know if you find the bad connections and remember I am here to help people---If you need any further help or have any questions let me know by replying here to this posting.

Convergence bad or just need reseated?

You probably have bad solder connections on the convergence ic's.But wants this happens it damages the convergence ic's and its best to replace them. If your a novice at tv repair call a service center

Ed did you change the yokes when you put the DPTV series CRT into the PTV chassis? If not its most likely the vertical output or the Horizontal output that got destroyed. If you changed the yoke its most likely the HV generator.
On the DPTV chassis that should shutdown the vertical deflection which would leave audio working worse case scenario would also be the HV generator and Horizontal output.

No power.its plugged into the outlet and it works. red power buttom not on tv

HELLO. it sounds like it could be a couple of things why your set will not come on. 1. you could have a blown fuse.on the chassis. 2. you could have a bad power supplly transformer. 3. you could have a bad horizontal output transistor and a bad fly back transformer. it could be one of them or both of them as well as a blown fuse. because the fuse is blown from the horizontal output transistor burning out or the fly back transformer burning up. check and see if you have a burnt fuse, the size iof the fuse will be 5 amp to 6.3 amp fuse on the chassis right inside where the 110 ac cord comes in and hooks to the chassis. the fuse should be right there, look for it. hope this helps you"GOOD LUCK"

RCA MODEL#D52W20 WHEN TURN ON THE POWER BOTTON THE GREEN POWER LED JUST BLINKS TV DOSEN'T COME ON.

Two major problems occur to cause this, and both are on deflection p.c.b. First, after removing the back look for two or three capacitors in the power supply that are bulging or have exploded in power supply and replace. You can see this looking down on chassis and this occurs on the top of the components in question. Second, look for burn marks or arcing around high voltage transformer, or simply a shorted horizontal output transistor. You will need an ohm meter to test the transistor. These solutions have fixed every identical set to yours,(20 or so) If you would rather replace the board try PTS out of bloomington or google your model number for replacement parts. Good luck.
