Question about Schwinn Original Airdyne

Open Question

I have a 1990's white Schwinn Aerodyne. The ergometer is one that takes the battery on the top. I do not see a cover or cap? Is there suppose to be one? Will the battery hold without? I was given this machine from a friend. THx NK

User Guide/Manual for Schwinn Airdyne AD3

Schwinn Fitness has many of their manuals here: http://www.schwinnfitness.com/schwinn_fitness_us/customerservice/manualsen.jsp . The direct link to the owner's manual for all Airdyne exercise bikes is available here: http://download.nautilus.com/supportdocs/OM/Schwinn/SCH_Airdyne_Evolution_OM_web.pdf . If you need the assembly directions, see the Airdyne AD4 guide: http://download.nautilus.com/supportdocs/AM/Schwinn/SCH.Airdyne.AD4.AM.EN.pdf . The AD3 and AD4 are very similar.

I hope this helps.

White macbook 10.5.8 pop spilled on keyboard

Ooouch ! After you've dabbed up (the spill) as much as you can, you may find some keys sticking ... i.e. when you touch (push) it (down), it doesn't pop up immediately. These are the keys you'll want to clean individually.
You can pop off the key top off (with your fingernails) from the top corner of the key. Once the key-cap top (cover) is pried open, lift the key-cap upwards and detach it from the bottom edge. You'll hear pop's when you do this. Once the key-cap is off, you'll see the mechanism under it. You'll want to clean things as best as you can ... very carefully. If the underside of the key top (cap) is sticky/dirty, rinse/wash it (with water), dry it well (before reinstalling it). Often the "stickiness" is caused by the (white translucent) plastic pieces (at the very top) not dropping flat down (immediately) after you lift it. (You wouldn't want to disassemble the parts below the (white translucent) square plastic pieces. Just clean/wipe it carefully using a cotton swab/toothpick).
You can remove the top (square plastic) pieces by pushing the tabs at the bottom corners ... downwards ... using a toothpick. This "top" square piece is actually two (square) pieces (snapped together), one inside the other. The inside piece is supposed to spin easily/quickly .... if not. it's probably sticky/dirty, rinse/wash it (with water), dry it well (before reinstalling it).
The trick is to make sure you know/remember how to reassemble the 2 pieces (after taking it apart and washing/rinsing/drying it) applying the right connection points to fit ... before you put the key-cap back on . The key-cap is put in place by just putting it in place and pressing down to snap it back on.
The larger keys (Shift, Space, etc.) has metal bars holding down the cap, etc., so it may take more effort to pop the key top (cap) off.
If you have quite a few to do, and you don't want to risk breaking anything, the Apple store is probably your next stop.

I have a women's Schwinn Ridge AL mountain bike and to install the handle bar, I have to remove the top cap but it wouldnt screw off or pop out. How is this supposed to be done?

That cap never needs to be removed. It is simply for adjusting the preload on the headset bearings while the other bolts on the stem secure that adjustment.

Hit the search engines with "threadless headset adjustment" for many explanatory videos.

Lost the small (black) battery cap that holds the button (357) battery in place. It's an older AIRDYNE. Located just below the odometer or timer. Presently holding with Gorilla tape.

That part is no longer made, stopped making them in 1990. You will simply need to use a watch to time your workouts. That's all it does anyway.

I was given an older Schwinn Air Dyne exercise bike. It has an ergometer between the handlebars. I do not know the age of the bike. It is gold I can't find a model # on it though. What I need is a...

You need a watch battery that can be bought at any drugstore or grocery store. It is LR44 or A76 size battery. Install the battery and tighten the little black cover and you'll be timing your workouts right away.

Battery cover & battery type for ergometer older unit

The battery cover is no longer made since this bike was last built in the late 1980's. I would recommend giving the man a timer/watch. I do have one of these little black round batter covers, and would sell for $25. However, all it does is create a timer for the rider. He already can use the analog computer to see his mileage, load, and can re-set the lower mileage to zero every workout. All the battery cover will allow is for him to set a timer for how many minutes he wants to workout for. Or he can pust the start button to time his workout. (my email is terpcafe@yahoo.com)
