Memory Stick Error

When turning on my 4.1 Cybershot camera, error reads, "Memory Stick error". This is an office camera. After checking memory sticks from other office cameras, same message appears, so I don't think its memory stick, but camera damage. Books suggests if memory stick is not damaged, then terminal section of "memory stick" is dirty. HOw would I clean that?

Hi

Lets clear something up first... If your camera is 4.1 MP, then it's NOT a DSC-W55 and this post seems to be in the DSC-W55 category. Knowing the actual camera model would really help in this case!

If you have a slightly older camera, it will NOT say "Memory Stick Pro" on or near the battery door or where the memory card slot is. If you camera does NOT say "Memory Stick Pro" you CANNOT use PRO cards, you must use cards that are 256MB or less and do not say "PRO" on them.

I'm fairly certain this is the problem you are having. Good luck.

Have Sony CyberShot DSC-F707 Sony Memory Stick Duo Adaptor and Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo 4gb When installed get C:1301 error

Hi,

In DSCT1 Camera, the C:13:01 error message indicates a Self diagnostic message. Each of these codes indicates the symptoms and resolutions of the Camera. In C:13:01, the issue is with the Memory Stick being used in the Camera.

The Symptoms are:

Memory Stick Pro Duo 4GB is not compatible with the DSCF707 Camera. Maximum capacity supported by the Camera is up to 128MB. Please try using a MS with 128 MB and check if it works. A dedicated adapter (MSAC-M2) must be attached to use Memory Stick Duo or MagicGate Memory Stick Duo media.

Thanks.

Problems with my Sony Cybershot W210

1) Make sure that you're not using more than 4 GB memory stick pro duo with the camera. Then try to remove the memory stick and capture 2 images in the internal memory and turn OFF and turn ON the Camera and check. If the error message comes, its the issue with the Camera itself and requires service after resetting. to reset the Camera, select Initialize under Main Settings 1 menu under Settings. if the issue persists, the camera may require service
If its working fine, transfer all the images to the Computer and format the memory stick. Formatting will delete all the contents. If the issue persists, memory stick should be replaced.

Error message: Reinsert the Memory Stick"

The problem is with the memory card. It probably just shorted internally and is no longer useful. The amount of memory is not the problem, as I used a 4GB card for a long time and my card finally went bad. You will just have to get another memory card and MAYBE find someone to be able to retrieve your data.

Format error comes because memory stick has an error. Please format memory stick by going in to Menu>> format>>OK

If error still comes then memory stick is bad and need to be replaced with new one.
