GE Profile side by side

We're getting a frequent knocking sound - sounds like wood **** or a machine gun. Comes in spurts and doesnt last long. Appears to be coming from the refigerator side.

Our GE profile side by side is about 1 year old and it now makes an intermittent but frequent knocking sound in the freezer unit. Sounds like dropping pebbles.

Also ensure the condensor uder the fridge is clean of dust build up. high head preasure at the compresor discharge can also cause noises in the eveperator circulation. make shure you clear out this dust 4 times a year.

How to fix knocking sound

It really depends where the sound is coming from. You will get a knocking sound when the fridge makes ice, and a knocking should when the compresser starts land stops, or your fan in the freezer may be hitting some ice build up in theevaperator

How do I stop the loud knocking noises coming from my refridgerator?

Pull the fridge away from the wall and inspect the compressor. Your description sounds like the compressor is hitting something. It is rubber mounted and usually can be pushed away from whatever it is hitting. You do not want to jamb something to stop the noise, as the compressor needs to move freely. Many compressors shake during start up and shutdown, and this is considered normal. Abnormal if the compressor hits something during this movement.

Refrigerator knocking noise

If it seems to be coming from underneath the unit it could be the compressor. Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} That's usually mounts inside the compressor. Usually when the compressor cuts off. It could still last awhile so if you can put up with the noise just wait for it to quit before replacing the compressor or getting a new fridge.
Any other noise would be from a fan. One in the freezer behind the back panel and one under the unit where the compressor is.

I have a GE profile side x side refrig. The

Your owners manual , will tell you the minimum clearences for the refrig . If I have 2 refrig's on my test line , less than 2 " apart , both will emit moisture on the sides , depending on the weather . There has to be air flow on the sides and rear . Sorry this doesn't answer your question directly , but there is no product that can be installed , to stop this problem with the refrig . However , you may , pull the refrig out , and treat the faceing wood , with a waterproof paint or sealant . It sounds like this part of the cabinet , will not be seen . Plastic will not work , moisture will just go thru it . Yes , treating the faceing wood sounds like the most logical solution .

make sure the auger is plugged all the way in and the machine is pushed all the way in. Sounds like they are just askew of each other.

GE Profile making knocking noises at different times

I have the GE profile Refrigerator with ice maker in the refrigerator compartment. Mine was knocking loudly for long periods of time, so I finally removed the icemaker by removing the side panel in the icemaker compartment held with 1 phillips head screw, disconnecting the electrical plug (unclip), pulling the tab of the icemaker down (on top) and sliding it toward the door, thus removing it. There was ice frozen in the motor compartment that was the problem. I let it thaw out and re-installed. All was OK after that..

GE Profile Knocking

Unplug and closely examine the area for a loose fan blade or anything that may be causing the noise. Better now than to get damage that could be prevented. Let me know what you find, Thanks, Sea Breeze

"knocking" from the freezer GE Profile PFS22SBSBSS fridge

The compressor could be a little lose from shipment from factory, to warehouse, to your home. If the bushings are lose, when the compressor kicks on, it can cause a jarring or vibration in the system lines. Disconnect the power from the wall before you attempt to touch the compressor and see if there is any play in the mounting bushings for the compressor.
