Your best bet is to contact Shure directly. Call the main number and ask for service. They will give you both the part number and cost. I have found them to be very helpful and quick. They generally ship the same day UPS or USPS.

Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

It's a condenser mic, so I suspect you aren't getting power to it. Make sure the phantom power is turned on on the mixer.

Look at the manual, the Beta 87A can be mounted on several shure microphone series. The shure web site has manuals for free.

Very doubtful this is a proprietary part. Look online at the Nuetrik and Switchcraft catalogs and you'll likely find it.

Shure Beta 87a - very weak signal compared to other 87a's in set. Not cabling, not amp.

Hello again..it's possible, just possible you have a fake beta 87a. A knockoff. Compare the physical characteristics of all your beta 87a's.

I have a Shure Beta 87a very weak output signal

Possible cause...microphone dropped on the ground.

Or possibly the capsule is fried from too much spit getting to it thru the windscreen.

Or possibly a short in one of the 3 pins/wires located in the housing where the xlr connects.

How do i take apart shure beta 87a.i need to put the plug back in

Hi, the metal cover unscrews and then the head pulls out. The XLR on the bottom has a small grub screw that should be screwed IN, then the xlr comes out.

Hope it helps

Which is better, shure beta 87a or 87c?. thanks

Hi,

It's depending where you gonna use the microphone.
For vocals I prefer the 87A, because it's a hypercardiod.

What do I need to provide phantom power to Shure Beta 87A microphone? All I have is a fender acoustasonic combo amp...

You will need a Shure PS1A phantom power supply if you want to use the manufacturers recommended part although any phantom power supply that puts out 11 to 52 volts D.C. positive at both pins 2 and 3 with a current drain of 1 to 1.2ma should work. Behringer makes good affordable ones. Check out this link:http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/PS400.aspx Hope this helps.

I have a Beta 87A wireless that will not power on... i have obviously replaced the batteries any thoughts

Your power switch may be damaged.
If the power button was pressed too forcefully, the switch on the circuit board in the handle of the 87A may have sustained damage. If the button no longer "clicks" when you depress it, that may well be the problem.

Access switches

I assume you have a wireless mic. Disassembly is dependent on the model of the wireless. However, typically, you would pop off the switches and then remove the C ring that is under the cartridge.
