Question about Sony Car Audio & Video

2 Answers

I have a portable DVD player and and a portable mp3 player, both with rechargeable batteries that I connect to my car aux input for audio in car. Both units work fine when I'm only using battery power. But as soon as I connect the charging cable to the cigarette lighter an interference starts. Again it works fine with only battery. it's Hard to describe the sound. It is not a high pitched feedback screech. It is not the alternator hum that syncs with engine speed The noise is exactly the same whether engine is running or not. More like a drastic degradation of audio. maybe low pitched feedback. Would anyone know a fix for this. Car Radio = Sony DVD = Sony MP3 = Creative Labs

Both chargers work correctly. They charge the respective units as designed. but make noise when audio out is connected at same time. when units are not connected to audio out.

I cannot listen to music or hear DVD while unit is charging. Is this normal?(DVD video plays as designed)

Remember this sound comes without engine running. The Mp3 has a non removable permanent battery,
the portable DVD player has a removable battery.I will try your suggestion and get back to you.I will also fully the first charge the mp3 and then try it.

The sounds might comes from the charger of your mp3 player you can try removing the battery before plugging in to the cigarette lighter.removing the battery will disable the charging and the charger will just serves as the power input of the mp3 player. If the problem persist you can use a surge suppressor it is a device that filters the noise from the alternator as well as the static comes from the charger...try this first and lets see how it works let me know thank you for consulting fixya..

The cigarette lighter charger is not working properly. Make sure that you have the proper charger according to your portable DVD player and a portable mp3 player, and check whether they are properly connected with each other. For sound problem, your device may not read the disks in a right way, try to clean it gently.

Connecting mp3 car radio

If you radio has an Aux input then you can connect a audio cable from your MP3 player to the Aux input on your radio.
If your radio does not have an Aux input the you can use a FM transmitter device. Connect the MP3 player to the FM transmitter and tune your FM radio to the radio frequency on this FM adapter to listen to your audio book on your MP3 player.
Check out these WEB sites fro FM transmitters.

Set-up for portable DVD player by Craig cmd420

Hello
[1] Insert the batteries into the Craig DVD player. Depending on the model you are using, the batteries are either rechargeable lithium-ion batteries or store-purchased AA batteries.
[2] Plug the 3.5mm cable into the headphone jack on the side of the Craig DVD player
[3] Insert the opposite end of the cable into the "Aux" connection on the car stereo. Without this audio-input option, you will be unable to hook the Craig DVD player up to your vehicle.
[4] Power on the Craig DVD player and insert the desired DVD. The video will load onto the display screen while the audio is played through the car's stereo system.

The battery on my car ent dead and now my AIWA CDC-MP32 keeps displaying "please unplug auxillary plugs"

Hi,

An auxiliary input allows you to select an external source and play it through the cd player's amplifier. It's often used for iPods and MP-3 players. Typically you just need an inexpensive patch cable that connects the headphone output from your portable player to the input on the CD player. After that you can select "AUX" as another source like CD or Tuner, and whatever's playing on the portable unit will be heard through the speakers.
Auxiliary inputs can be on the front or the rear of the CD player. Front aux inputs are typically 3.5mm stereo plugs, similar to a small headphone jack. Rear aux inputs can be RCA jacks or a 3.5mm jack. If you have a CD player with a rear aux input, a cable needs to be connected at the time of installation. Then the other end can be routed to whatever location in the vehicle you want to keep your portable player while you're using it with the CD player.
Front aux jacks are more convenient for quick connecting/disconnecting the portable player, but they tend to wear out over time.

Let us know if you have somethin more to ask else accept the suggestion.
Thank You for contacting Fixya

Cannot get my mp3 player to operate on the aux input consistently

I have a 2002 Pontiac Montana and I use a 2 pronged RCA plug at one end with a yellow plug and a white plug, and the other end is one plug to use for the MP3 player. Plug your RCA plugs into the bottom 2 plugs. My RCA plugs on my cord are yellow and black the yellow one is in the middle
plug and the black in the bottom one and I use the AUX input for my MP3 player. I have a SANSA
and a Ipod and they both work fine. I hope this helps. Just a FYI so you don't think your radio is
going whacko after you do get the MP3 player to work the AUX will always come on first and you will have to push the AM/FM button on the dash or the steering wheel to get the radio or DVD back on.
And the DVD player will have to be switched on for the AUX to play the MP3 player.
Have fun...

VIDEO OK, AUDIO NOT WORKING

The aux or auxiliary is used for external audio source (ipods, portable mp3 player, etc) If you are watchig dvd movies, the sound should come from the dvd and not from aux.
