Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

Hi, The one channel on my NAD 3240PE cuts out completely after about 20 minutes of use (no sound whatsoever). I suspect overheating of some component as play time is shorter when it is hot (summer). Kindly advise on possible repairs.

You should check for dry joints near the amp ic.
You should also check R414, R424, R441, R442, R413, R423, R445 and R446.

Hope this helps.

Teac A R300 right speaker has s badly distorted sound after 20 minutes. When I turn it off nad turn it on again, Same problem after 20 minutes. Left channel working perfect.

Have you changed the speakers to see if it is a driver, or amplifier, issue? If it follows the speaker, get it reconed. If it follows the channel, look into that channel.

NAD C370 distortion.

It looks like you may shorted some part of the audio circuitry, Most likely you will have to replace the entire board (easier option).

If you can find a replacement board, it shouldn't be too hard to replace, if you have had prior experience with electronics. However,i think it is best you let an experienced electronics repair guy do this for you.

hope that helps..

Amplifier cuts of after 20 min playing

Sounds like a component inside is overheating. Might suggest taking to a car adio specialist to fix but could be expensive to repair. A new replacement maybe cheaper.

My left channel goes out on my 533, when I touch the RCA in the back, it comes back on for a few minutes then cuts out again???

You need to replace the RCA plug with a new one. If it is on a seperate cable replace the lot, if not cut it off. There are only two wires one earth and the channel, you can't go wrong.

Hi, I have a second hand NAD 3240PE amplifier, the right channel has an intermitent crackle but the left channel is fine, Any ideas as to what might be causing this problem?

Crackling is usually a dirty control. Try using an electronics cleaner (with lubricant) and spray out all of the controls and switches. With the unit off, work the controls and switches back and forth to "spread" the lubricant. I would spray, work and spray again.

Update this with the results and also see if the crackling is related to the overall volume level. If tied to the volume level, there could be a transistor inside that is breaking down and causing distortion.

All the main power supply capacitors need to be replaced.
I'm figuring it's an older unit?

NAD C541i CD Player plays but the sound cuts out for an instant every 10-20 secs. It eventually goes away, but it is annoying when you first play a disc. Any help appreciated.

hi, i've had a few nad C541i's and not so long since the sound on one of them cut out for milliseconds and on some occasions the sound would make the noise very much like a severely scratched vinyl record, i thought it was a faulty laser so i tried another KSS-213C laser out of a scrap kenwood and the fault persisted. to cut a long story short, i took the main PCB out and there were various dry joints. once these were resoldered i was blessed with a fully functioning player. hope this helps?

Sound cuts off

OK,  That means there's some kind of crazy fault in the temperature sensing circuits. I'm afraid you'll have to take it someplace and have it looked at for a more thorough diagnosis.

Nad 302 amplifier

sounds to me that the vol control has lost its earth end connection So yes its a problem with the dial control You couls try some contact cleaner But better still lift of the lid and base if possible while the amplifier is not plugged into the power socket and see if you have a dry joints around the vol control pot regards Trev
