I have a Nokia c5-00 that i can't use as a modem for my pc.The product description for this model says it can be used as a modem. I have followed the instructions posted in OVI site regarding its use but...

Hi. Is phone able to connect to the internet before you plus it onto your pc?
You probably have to go to settings and enable/allow usb tethering. Or something similar.
And from there switch on your data connection and your pc might prompt you to allow connection.
If your pc doesn't respond you probably don't have your Nokia application(something like a software to sync your phone) installed. Find the software and installed and everything will work

I am unable to use the bluetooth app in my laptop..the moment i open, it shows error 797 a connection to the remote access server was not made because the modem was not found.......please help me..........

This is for GPRS connection
You must have from your network provider: the internet access point name, your user name and password.
Download and unzip the attached file in a folder on your desktop

1- Disconnect the device from your desktop
2- On the Activesync icon on your desktop, open "Connection Settings". Uncheck "Allow USB Connection".
3- On your device: Go to "Beam" (in Settings/Connections), and uncheck "Receive all Incoming beams".
4- Then in Programs, click on "Wireless Modem". With the Connection type on USB, click on "Start".
5- Now, connect your device to the desktop. The "Found New Hardware Wizard" starts on your desktop. Click "Install from a specific location", then "Don't search. I will choose...", then click on "Modems", and "Have Disk..." and go to the folder where you unzipped the attached file.
The HTC USB Modem will be shown in the compatible hardware: click to install. Continue if you receive the alert of the software not passing the Windows XP compatibility test (Continue anyway). Finish.
6- Now, in Control Panel of your desktop, open "Phone and Modem Options". Select the "HTC USB Modem" and click on "Properties". In the "Advanced" tab type for "Extra initialization commands":
AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","xxx","",0,0
where xxx is your internet access point.
Click OK to finish.
7- On your device (always open in the Wireless Modem program), click on Tools/Options. Check the Preset GPRS connections and write in the APN, your network provider internet access point.
8- Finally, on your desktop, go to "Network Connections" and click "Create a new connection". Choose "Connect to the internet", then "Set up my connection manually". Click "Connect using a dial-up modem", then give a name to your ISP. In phone number type *99#. Get username and password from your network provider.

Better keep a shortcut of this connection on your desktop for quick access.

Each time you want to use your device as a modem:
Disconnect your device
Disable Activesync from your desktop by unchecking the "Allow USB connection"
Open Wireless Modem on your device and push on Start (with the Connection Type on USB)
Connect your device, then dial from your desktop using the shortcut you created

PS: Remember to enable Activesync once you've finished.

I have bsnl broadband connection; i am using a desktop to connect the internet, but i cant able to connect other laptop with wifi. i need bellow things with step by step instruction: 1.connecting one...

Your router has an lan address or IP. Something like 192.168.1.1. This is what you must connect to. Each of the machines you want to connect must have (in this example) an IP number between 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.225. As long as your machines all have a unique IP they should all connect to your router. Your modem will have a gateway and typically this will be something like 10.0.0.1. So setup for one machine may look like this [192.168.1.3 subnet 255.255.255.0

To find these setting, click on your lan connection, select "properties" and choose "Internet Protocol TCP/IP". Here you will see these settings. Your router guide will give you these settings, make sure you get them from your router guide.

Wireless connection works fine from the d-link router but the desktop linked from the phoneline keeps going offline. Why?

You've omitted some information about your hardware & configuration & connections.

You should have:

1. cable-modem connected to cable socket (or DSL-modem connected to telephone wall-jack);
2. router connected via Ethernet cable to the cable-modem (or DSL-modem)
3. desktop computer connected via Ethernet cable to the desktop computer
4. wireless device (iPod or netbook or notebook) connected over the "ether" to the router -- this connection will stay "up" almost "forever" (as long as there is AC-power to the router and power to the wireless device).

Which parts & connections do you have?

Pc acess net frm nokia 7210supernova

Hi,

For you to be able to connect to the internet using your nokia 7210 supernova as a modem, you must do the following;

1. First download the nokia PC Suite from Nokia site http://www.nokiausa.com/get-support-and-software/product-support, select your device, leave the accessory and move on to select the service & software"

2. You then move ahead to download and install the Nokia PC suite on your computer. After successful installation, please run it.

3. Double click on the icon for the nokia pc suite on your desktop, once it is running look for the button that has "connect to the internet", it is the green globe with 2 arrows on it.

4. Once you get that double clicked, it takes you to a pop up that would now enable ypu connect to the internet via your service provider. Click on configure on the lower end of that window.

5. Click on the modem that you'll be using for the connection (bluetooth, USB cable) and click next.

6. After that process you would then be prompted to select your network operator from the list, once you do that you can then click finish and allow it connect.

After some couple of minutes yu'll be connected to the internet using your phone as a modem.

Hope this helped.

My pc won't connect to the internet

It is the MAC address that needs to be scrubbed from the modem.

power off the desktop, power off the modem, unplug the data cable from the modem, unplug the POWER connection to the modem.

WAIT 3 MINUTES

Connect power to modem, let it reset
Connect data cable to Modem
power on computer

Modem should now connect & work with desktop.

Each time you switch between systems, you may have to do this. More than enough to make me buy a router. =)

Please rate the post. =)
