Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Was the blockage you cleared in the filter or in the drain hose? If it was in the hose I would gently suggest as a first step that you check/clean the drain motor lint tray/filter then check the performance of the drain motor.
Here are my complete guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
-------------------------------------

If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and most are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play!

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT!
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. You can check its power by wearing a glove or other protection and seeing if it is very easy to stop. If it is the motor is malfunctioning!

Hope the filter is the problem and good luck!

Another AEG e20 Plea, tried everything please help!

E20 on your machine means some sort of drain problem. If it actually goes through the spin cycle fine; some water will still not drain out at the time of the tumble dry. Check the wall drain to make sure it isn't clogged..

Check the drain of your wall, not the washer, this shd be cleaned out thoroughly; and the exit pipe of your washer should not fit too tight into it, there shd be some space for air.

Not draining an erro comes up E20 on it

E20 = draining issue. The most common problem is a blockage at the drain pump.

This can be checked by a DIYer with general hand-tools.
1st. Unplug the washer! We don't want to get shocked.
2nd. There is a lower panel on this unit which can be removed by removing two screws at the bottom. Remove this panel to gain access to the drain pump area.
3rd. Find a big diameter black hose coming from the bottom of the wash tub and follow it until it gets to a plastic housing with an electric motor sticking out the side. (there will be a smaller diameter hose coming out of this plastic housing as well this is your drain hose)
4th. Remove hose clamp on large black hose and remove hose from pump (water will flow! be ready)
5th. Check hose and pump for blockages... One of the most common is under-wires from the wife's bras. Spin impeller of pump to insure that it moves freely.
6th. Put it back together in reverse order of taking it apart. Try unit out by starting a cycle without clothes. Then put it in a spin cycle to see if water drains.

Stops during both wash and dry cycles shows error E20 any ideas

hi e20 is fault code for not draining efficiently either a blockage in the pump or hoses to or from it. can also be a blockage under the sink if its connected by way of a spigot to the waste. If not any of them the pump is faulty and needs replacing.

Washer won't finish wash cycle

e20 on a lot of machines will generally indicate a water emptying problem. Possible solutions: kink in the outflow pipe, internal blockage which is letting the water away too slowly, pump not functioning each of these needs to be checked.

Why can i not get the dryer to work? error E20 is flashing.

HI,
Can you hear the pump trying to drain it when you start a cycle? If not it needs a new pump.

Is there a block in the drainage pipe (blow down it and see if it bubbles in the filter compartment). Or a block in the drain - try pouring some water down in.

Otherwise, I had the same problem (an E20 but a clean filter, no blockage and working pump) and it turned out the condenser (a large plastic vessel) or the right side of the machie (you have to take the whole back off) was full of fluff. The engineer just used a wire hanger and ran it under water to clean it out.

If you've found that it hasn't been drying the clothes fully recently that could well be the problem.

My washing machine use to wash our clothes so well that they would come out of the washing machine practically dry... now i have to run extra spin cycles just to get some of the water out. My display often...

E20 is an error code for drainage failure.

Check where the appliance drain hose connects to the house drains for a blockage.

If it's onto a spigot under the sink, take them off and check both for a blockage.

If these are ok then it's likely to be a blockage in the pump.

You'll need to drain the water out manually.

Put a shallow dish below the filter and slacken the filter.

Tighten it to stop the flow of water while you empty the dish.

Once empty, take the filter out, clean out the debris and ensure nothing is left jamming the pump.

Before refitting the filter, put the machine on drain or spin and listen at the filter housing to see if you can hear the pump running.

If you do, fit the filter and try the machine again.
