Question about Cell Phones
Can I unlock my Telstra prepaid to go onto Vodaphone please?
Hello there....well its quite simple...to unlock the phone to any network you need to call the customer care of your original network provider( Telstra) ....just keep the model number of your phone number handy (you will find that on the box in which you got the phone)...or the IMEI number (15 digits mostly) by dialing *#06# on your phone or beneath the battery or on the box near bar code....this is a paid service and charges differ from network to network
that should solve the problem.....you will be able to use any sim in your phone of any service around the world
hope this help

An unlocked phone will not necessarily work with any network sim: it depends on what frequency that the network operates under. Australia runs a couple for example; 900mH, 2100mH, 850mH
Ever heard of a Tri- or Quad-band phone? This refers to the bandwidth variety it can pick up.
Not sure of the most common frequencies for other countries. Doubtless many countries have frequencies in common.
But yes, unlocking a phone allows you to use it with any network sim, even from other countries, limited only by the capacity of the hardware to recognise the signal.
