Hi,

Network drivers can be a problem because if you cant get on internet how do you download it?
Im guessing you have a second PC on internet somewhere.

Firstly if your wireless works,
Open windows update,
Click Custom
Choose Optional Updates
Choose Hardware
Check that windows update has a driver for your network card

If not you can download Driver Genius Free Trial
It will tell you the name of the driver you need
You will have to pay full version to download the driver

But just Google the name of it and get it manually

Hope this helps, works everytime for me when fixing peoples computers

No wired network connection

you will have to open up your network connections

click start control panel network connections this may vary depending on your operating system look for local area connection if you see a red x or a yellow exclamation or question mark ! ? you will need to update or install the driver or it could be firewalled

If you are trying to connect through a modem/router you it should have come with a disk then
you might have to connect the usb lead to your modem to get a connection then

click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll to network adapters should see a yellow question mark? right click install drivers
the driver might be on the disc supplied by your ISP internet service provider
or the motherboard disc
hope this helps

Network Connections missing icon. Plus others problems.

XP tags "Local Area Connection #" with your Network Adapter. If you have a built-in LAN, it will take Local Area Conn 1" and when you disabled it and plugged in a new network adapter, it will be named Local Area Conn 2 and so on in that pattern. Your Local Area Connection will only be back when you plug the original Network adapter that XP tagged as Local Area Connection. It is not "variable" where you can choose how to name it.
