Start pressing F8 at boot

When the Windows Startup menu appears, select ENABLE VGA MODE

This will boot the system in 640 x 480 resolution but the video driver will be installed. Once at the desktop, either reset the display to the normal resolution settings or reinstall the video driver.

Try start up in Safe Mode press F8. Choose Safe Mode, when at the choice window, to select either Safe Mode Desktop, OR System Restore, chooses system restore and choose a time before you had the "Problem" and follow instructions. This should get you back.

Monitor displays breifly then goes to blank screen

If tried the monitor on two other computers with the same result -- definitly your monitor is faulty. Take it to the repair shop. To make double sure, run your computer with another monitor. If everything is fine now; you can blame the monitor.

Monitor is blank!!!!

Firstly, the LCD+external setting will switch one or the other or both on.

Secondly, if you go into your display properties (or even the advanced page where your video card additional features are) you can usually select which monitor is "primary".

I suspect that your external display is primary, and the LCD screen is not "enabled" or used as part of the desktop.

The settings are all there, it's just a matter of finding them (depending on what video card is in whatever laptop you have)

This might have happened in the first place if you accidentally hit "Fn" and one of the "F" keys up the top. Fn + F6 on my laptop will switch LCD/external monitors on and off. (for example) There is usually a little blue picture on one of the "F" keys to denote that function.

LCD monitor goes blank

It appears that the display resolution set in your display properties is out of the range that the LCD can display.

Try this.

Boot to the ENABLE VGA MODE by pressing F8 to get the Windows Boot Menu. If you can get to the desktop, then go to display properties, and see if you can change the resolution to higher settings and maintain video. (If the video blanks out, then it should revert to the previous setting in 15 seconds)

Changed graphics card-then disabled the monitor by accident, now black screen. Not even safe mode works now!

That's pretty funny (apart from the suffering)! It's doing exactly what you asked and displaying nothing to that monitor. Even if you safe-boot, the VGA thing might try to honor the setting (though it shouldn't if you have WinXP SP3.)
Booting to a command prompt 'only' from the safe boot choices and importing some regedit settings from another machine's video might just do the trick. (As well might adding a 2nd monitor on some machine and seeing what changes in the registry using a monitor program for that.... Some 'display' key probably contains 'disabled 1' instead of 'disabled 0'.... )

If you can get a LiveCD or bootable USB key of any sort (WinXP, Knoppix, Kevin's Rescue CD, etc.) you can probably just enjoy graphics settings by booting to that, and edit the registry or use WINCONFIG a little more freely than Safe Boot offers.

Blank screen after xp welcome screen no power to keyboard

Ok, with your current set up, what beeps are you getting? Also, while you have a blank desktop, hit CTRL+ALT+DELETE and you'll have Task Manager come up, click File and then New Task and type in "explorer" without quotes and hit enter. That should restore your desktop. Let me know how it goes.

Monitor goes standby after boot

Look the problem it may not your monitor it's your windows XP. Let me guess you have a VGA/Svideo card. From prior experience I can tell you that dual output Nvidia cards will default to Svideo first, and then "adjust" your windows settings to do so every time even if a VGA monitor is re-connected (HIGHLY ANNOYING). So if the last thing you see before nothing is the Windows XP boot screen, here's how to fix it. Boot to safe mode uninstall your video driver, reboot then reinstall. You can substitute a system restore for uninstalling your drivers if you can remember when the monitor was last working. This really really pissed me off when it happened to me.

I assume your Samsung Magic CGB5607L is CRT monitor (Not LCD).
It could be the problem with "Refresh Rate" the monitor can't handle. Set the lowest resolution with lowest refresh rate. (800x600 @ 60 Hertz). in Display Properties
