Two possibilities. Your LCD is bad, or your graphics chip is bad on the motherboard. You can determine which it is by connecting your laptop to an external monitor. If you have a display on the external monitor your LCD is bad, if not your motherboard may need replaced.
If you determine it is your LCD have it checked. It may be just a bad power inverter which is around $10 instead of the entire screen.
