It depends on what kind of inputs and outputs your laptop and tv have. Easiest way would be an HDMI cable, which you can find online for cheap. Regular monitor cables (VGA cables) and s-video cords work well too. If you're using windows, go to control panel > appearance and personalization > connect to a projector or other external display, and that will help set you up.
